It's not really worth trying to make decent espresso if you're using a blade grinder or pre-ground coffee.
(Regardless of what kind of coffee you're trying to make, grinding it fresh - especially with a good burr grinder - is going to make a big difference. Next up: use a scale to measure the coffee beans/grounds, not a volume measure)
