so i purchased the best smart lock by Eufy 3 years ago. And today the battery has failed... Eufy does not have any instock on their website and I have already purchased TWO knock offs that give me about 2.5 days of use when it is suppose to offer about 8 months of use.

From my experiance... buy the ones that use AA batteries.

Good deal for those who want one.

I use an old fashioned keypad lock and believe that if I can unlock a lock over wifi, someone else can unlock it too. But that is just me.

I bought a refurb ~3yrs ago, just charged that battery today.

I'd take it (OEM part) apart and hope it is a battery that has failed and try to replace it, otherwise I can see being screwed

But this is a common sales price for this one, I'm curious on opinions on the palm reader, might move the finger print one to the side door once this one (new or refurb) gets a good sale

I have the E34 (no camera/doorbell/screen) and the 3 Max. Both work really well with the palm unlock so far. At least during the month I have had them. Fingerprint locks have been really hit or miss for me and never worked for my wife who has "weather fingers"... dry skin during dry times and wet skin during humid times. So far I really like these locks and like the features of the app. Expensive though... Hopefully it lasts through cold winters and hot summers.

So... Eufy does not have the battery in stock and like I said, I tried TWO third party batteries both lasted a little less then 3 days. I CRACKED and got a C220 model that takes 8 AA batteries.

So... the first battery I purchased must have been for the 3 Max cause it was so big it did not fit... BUT this is my story ...

I purchased the battery directly from Eufy... and the battery got lost about 50 miles away from where I live. I called them... the still made me wait 5 plus days even though it has been two weeks and the battery is stuck at specific location for DAYS. BUT OK... I waited... and they sent me a new battery.

New battery went missing somewhere in NJ. Again, I explained that the item has been at the same location for 9 days... something must be wrong... and again, they told me to wait about five more days. So I waited.

NOW A MONTH HAS PASSED....

They are now sending me a THIRD battery... it FINALLY GOT DELIEVED TO THE WRONG ADDRESS... this is my post office (I HATE THEM)... but i did get it because the neigbor seems to get alot of my packages (not next door, but a completely different street).

.... AND the third battery was dented so hard that the plastic shell was damaged... but this is where I realized that I actually was ordering the wrong battery. I sent them a picture of the damaged battery 6 WEEKS after I first ordered and told them I will purchase the battery from someone else.

Then the nightmare of third-party batteries has happened. JUST gave them back to wholefoods. AND NEVER AGAIN, I only buy smart locks with AA batteries. No propriortery shit.

So that was TWO MONTHS of not having a battery last more then 3 days.

A lock may deter casual passersby, but if someone is truly determined to enter your home, a deadbolt, whether electronic or traditional, will not stop them. Likewise, anyone willing to put in the effort to defeat a smart lock could just as easily use a lock pick gun/snap gun/electric pick to gain entry. All that said, I use a eufy lock in my garage and the thing jams half the time and there are ZERO clearance issues. Save yourselves the money and get a Schlage electronic dead bolt. It's on my list of things to replace and I just haven't gotten around to it.
