That does not have the controller app built in, so you need a cloud key to control it. Any thing start with UXG needs a cloud key. UCG has the controller built in

U6 Enterprise (non-wall) is a new addition from the Black Friday sale. The 4x4 antennas on 5G & 6G is unmatched by any of their non-top end WiFi7 equipment. I'd buy this vs any of the WiFi 7 offerings

Absent from the holiday-offer page itself is the Cloud Gateway Max with 512GB SSD for $179 (regularly $279), and cheaper than the No Storage option that's still $199:

Given a 512GB NVME SSD costs ~$80 today, that's only about $100 for the UCG-Max itself.

Dang! I wish the u7 lite was on sale. The u7 pro offers nothing additional that would benefit the cost for me. Except... maybe because a little extra range on 5ghz.
the u7 pro offers a 6ghz radio band over the u7 lite

Yea I know but that's not really a benefit to me. It has horrible range so I stick to 5ghz. Anything that needs faster than 5ghz WiFi is wired in my house anyways. I'm somewhat of a newb so maybe I'm overlooking another benefit of having the 6ghz?

I feel ubiquiti in general needs to increase the range for all there products. I recently switched to UDR7 and it covers exactly the same compared to my 12 year old Asus router. In fact I had to add an access point for better coverage.

Aside from obvious POE budget differences, etc., what are the disadvantages of the Dream Machine SE versus a Cloud Gateway Fiber, Lite8 POE, and UNVR Instant setup? I want to run some g6 cameras, set up a wired home network for laptop and tv, and setup a home server to run an ai engine locally.
Keep in mind that the UNVR Instant has POE ports, so you might not need the Lite8. Other than having all that functionality in one box (UDM Pro SE) so it's in 1U instead of over a few boxes, I'd say the CGF is the better path. It has better performance with a faster processor. IMO it's clear the UDM Pro line will be replaced with a next gen device with CGF internals and a 3.5" drive in a 1U form factor in 2026. Although I HOPE Ubiquiti will offer a "UDM CGF" with 4 SFP+ ports, I think we'll see the same form factor as it is now (8 ports + 1 WAN + 2 SFP+) with basically all the ports upgraded from 1gb -> 2.5 gb and a 10gb WAN. The one thing I really expect they will do is upgrade the backplane on the next gen box- the 8 port side has a 1gb symmetrical connection to the processor, which is wild IMO.

I'm new to U ecosystem but have always heard good things. Does the U7 Pro need one of the gateway units to work or will it work independently? Thanks!
You can use the U7 Pro in standalone mode and set it up with a phone, or you can host a controller locally if you want a dashboard. However, I'll warn you that once you get the controller in and see Ubiquiti's interface you'll likely be jonesing for a gateway so you can see all the things in the pretty interface. I copped 2 free Ubiquiti APs and after running them with my own controller and a mish-mash of other hardware I moved over to Ubiquiti and honestly couldn't be happier.

These items look to not have any shipping costs or tariff surcharges. This make the deal even better from ui.com. Will be interesting to see if other retailers match these sale prices (Microcenter, etc)
I've found that MC will usually price match the UI site but I've had to get that either at the register or via a chat session.

You should always purchase Unifi items directly from ubiquiti. They give you 2 yrs warranty compared to 1 yr from other retailers

Size, mainly. SE is rack mount, CGF is desktop. I prefer the Pro/SE form factor and features (haven't fully compared them) but the CGF is making rack mount guys reconsidering their setups because it's that good.

I'd suggest getting the POE 16 instead of 8...you should always get more ports than you think you need.

This is like trying to get one speaker to broadcast your music to cover your entire venue instead of multiples to make sure wherever you are you're hearing the music just fine.

You don't necessarily need more range, you need more coverage.

What use cases would you not justify the U6 Enterprise? Where does this really shine?
Ignoring the 4x4 specs, it has really stellar performance for 2x2 devices and has great RF performance on all frequencies. If you have a bunch of WiFi 7 devices though or want to really future proof, I could see the use for 7 Pro/Enterprise instead.

Unless ubiquiti has features you want/need then I'd recommend sticking with a normal consumer router. If you look up reviews they do not win speed or range tests compared to consumer routers. I got on the ubiquiti band wagon a couple years ago because of the hype and then got off because I don't use any thing that I can't find on a consumer device and a consumer router often gets better range and speeds. Ubiquiti is more geared to larger deployments.

In for the Dream Machine Pro SE. I think the Pro and SE were at these prices a couple of BF ago, but those prices have not returned until now. Surely, now that I have purchased, these old models will be replaced soon. I can live with that. It's already overkill for me.

I have Unifi for my house and I love it. I have G6 PTZs and G5 PTZs and G5 turrets. I initially had the CloudKey+ Gen 2 but replaced it with the UNVR Instant and have all the cameras running to an unmanaged Netgear POE++ switch. The UNVR Instant has an HDMI out also which is great.

My mistake when I said range I meant coverage. Granted I really like Ubiquiti for the features I just wish they had more coverage in today's world. A coverage of 2000-2500 square feet would be much better than a 1250 square feet coverage.

Correct. No shipping charge for me for standard shipping (est. delivery Dec 17).
