That does not have the controller app built in, so you need a cloud key to control it. Any thing start with UXG needs a cloud key. UCG has the controller built in

U6 Enterprise (non-wall) is a new addition from the Black Friday sale. The 4x4 antennas on 5G & 6G is unmatched by any of their non-top end WiFi7 equipment. I'd buy this vs any of the WiFi 7 offerings

Absent from the holiday-offer page itself is the Cloud Gateway Max with 512GB SSD for $179 (regularly $279), and cheaper than the No Storage option that's still $199:

Given a 512GB NVME SSD costs ~$80 today, that's only about $100 for the UCG-Max itself.

Aside from obvious POE budget differences, etc., what are the disadvantages of the Dream Machine SE versus a Cloud Gateway Fiber, Lite8 POE, and UNVR Instant setup? I want to run some g6 cameras, set up a wired home network for laptop and tv, and setup a home server to run an ai engine locally.
I believe the DMSE supports Shadow Mode failover while none of the Cloud Gateways do.

I'm new to U ecosystem but have always heard good things. Does the U7 Pro need one of the gateway units to work or will it work independently? Thanks!
You don't need a UniFi Gateway but you need to run UniFi OS Server somewhere on your network

I feel ubiquiti in general needs to increase the range for all there products. I recently switched to UDR7 and it covers exactly the same compared to my 12 year old Asus router. In fact I had to add an access point for better coverage.
No range problems here. UAP-AC-HD, 3 floor house.

The UDM and UDM-SE just don't seem worth buying at this point for a home setup. They're outclassed by the UCG-FIBER. (Note not the UXG-Fiber on sale.)

My mistake when I said range I meant coverage. Granted I really like Ubiquiti for the features I just wish they had more coverage in today's world. A coverage of 2000-2500 square feet would be much better than a 1250 square feet coverage.

Biggest coverage you could get is probably from the pro 7 outdoor. The dB for the antenna gain is much higher with a higher max power for the 6 gHz band. Someone can correct me but I believe that's how you can "quickly" compare Access points and coverage. I think that's having a 2 x 2 radio vs 4 x 4 just means that's you're more likely to saturate your wireless connection when devices connect.

Correct, I already have the controller running elsewhere (used to be cloud key gen1, now just running as a container on a server).
You aren't by chance running a docker container on say an unraid server, are you? I'm such a newb with dockers, but want to run mine in a container, too.

UniFi OS Server is containerized out of the box. No docker compose or anything like that necessary.

In case this is an honest question, those are certainly challengers to Ubiquiti. I haven't specifically used either that you mention, but it's been my experience with anything HPE that support is tragic, and TP-Link is a more of a prosumer brand than a mid-sized to Enterprise vendor. I'd rather go with UniFi for the following reasons: 1. No hard requirement for a cloud account2. Consistent and known support 3. US-Based (their handling of their data breach a couple years ago was really bad though)4. Modular upgrades5. Advanced features when you need them, simplicity when you don't 6. Simple provisioningMy UDM Pro and 4 APs have been running for years with no intervention. So, I'll keep coming back for piecemeal upgrades when it makes sense!
i have had TP Link and it's ok but you have to stay on top of the firmware updates. I had a point to point TP Link setup between a home and an outbuilding that was constantly dropping, limiting throughput and just a hassle to manage. A friend recommend Ubiquiti and they have been hassle free for over 6 years now. i now have five various ubiquiti APs across two homes in a mix of indoor and outdoor applications and they just simply work. I don't use hardly any of the advanced features but my experience with their reliability makes them worth the extra money to me.

I run mine in a docker on unraid. I used to use the cloud keys, but after one too many failed devices, I moved docker and haven't looked back.

Having trouble deciding between u6 enterprise vs u7 pro (cheaper)(for home use) The only thing holding me back is 4x4 vs 2x2 on 5ghz and 6ghz. I don't have any 4x4 clients but doesn't 4x4 offer some better range/penetration to 2x2 clients?

Hoping one of these is a little bit of an upgrade from my Asus ax86u that has been randomly dropping some of our devices.

For sure--I'm at the point in my life where will take "just works" over shiny/new every time!

I'm considering retiring my AC1900, How do you guys feel about fiber gateway in an apartment setup? I understand that I'd still need a separate access point for wireless devices.

So what happened? Last year it seemed like people wouldn't shut up about the doorbell and this year I haven't seen chatter, nor a sale. Was that an inside marketing job? I don't get how it was so prevalent last year yet not a peep this year.

For Ubiquity fans and home lab enthusiasts:

What y'all's home set ups are like?

Wifi Access point + switch + ...

What do y'all have?

I just have a regular Wifi6 Asus Wifi router with Merlin and was thinking about upgrading to something more advanced with separate devices because I want to add NAS + NVR//Cameras + Home Assistant stuff/IOTs to my home.

Could be wrong but I noticed:Enterprise has Bluetooth for the iot stuffEnterprise in wall for same price has 4 port switch with 1 poe pass through. 7 has a bit more range and a fan, I'm not sure if the 6 has a fan.4x4 unlikely to be beneficial to most home users, I probably wouldn't base it off that.
