This is an excellent planer and a great price for it. However, I have both this one from Bosch and also the Wen planer. They work almost exactly the same and I would highly recommend the Wen, it's much cheaper.

Probably the best corded hand planer in the US... IF you get a flat one.

Bosch has a serious flaw in their manufacturing for Bosch NA Tools. Their cast aluminum is very wonky. Whether it's the show of the 2632 planer, or the table top of the 1181 router table, it's hard to find a flat version of these, and almost any other cast aluminum tools l.

So when your planer arrives, take a thin straight edge to see how bad the shoe is.

I had to persuade Home Depot to price match Amazon back in Sept. for a price match, cause the descriptions weren't exact, but they were the same item. After 6% tax my price was $138.56, so this would beat it by $5. I watched prices for several weeks between Amz, HD, and Acme until the price was the lowest that I had seen before purchase. I chose this over the Makita cause it included the case and the bag.
