Where can we find that? You're telling us it's bad but not showing us how to get the good ones. Lol
Copilot can break it down for you with source info from NIH Office of Dietary Supplements. For convenience, "For most people, cyanocobalamin is cost-effective and clinically sufficient.
For those with neurological issues (neuropathy, cognitive decline), methylcobalamin may offer added benefit despite higher cost."

I wouldn't necessarily say that if you are still getting enough. Most people don't need B12 unless they are vegan or have some issue. You can get too much from methy, and your blood levels can be off the charts. Then the doctors will start insisting you get a HIV test because that's an indicator, and they won't listen when you tell them you take a methy B12 supplement. Ask me how I know.

Most people don't need B12 unless they are vegan or have some issue. You can get too much, especially from methyl B12, and your blood levels can be off the charts. Then the doctors will start insisting you get a HIV test because that's an indicator, and they won't listen when you tell them you take a methy B12 supplement. Then when you stop the supplement and your levels magically go down, they won't apologize. Ask me how I know. Just a heads up in case they try to convince you that you are going to die. High levels can also cause nervous issues like anxiety, simliar to low levels.

Lol, "Not as good" completely depends on the application.

For those who have had bariatric surgery or who have had a part of their stomach removed for another reason, they have to replace the B12 that the missing lining of their stomach used to produce. That B12 has to be introduced directly into the bloodstream - either as an injection, a nasal spray into the soft tissue, or dissolved sublingually under the tongue. This is because the body is not expecting that form of B12 to just show up inside the stomach with eaten food and require to be extracted via digestion.

For those people, the synthetic cyanocobalamin version is a much better solution, as it is specifically designed for this delivery method, and because the body will convert it into the active forms of methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. Just popping a methylcobalamin pill introduces inefficiency, and the body cannot convert that to adenosylcobalamin (the -other- form of B12 that the stomach lining produces).

So for -you-, a methyocobalamin pill that you swallow may be better if you're just looking for a pick-me-up or a "rush". For someone like -me-, for whom a B12 supplement is a medical necessity, or for someone who wants to take a form that is more directly and efficiently processed giving better bang for the buck, a cyanocobalamin pill taken sublingually is better.

methylcobalamin is only one type of b12. the body can convert cyanocobalamin into methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin

The entire issue with cyanocobalamin vs methylcobalamin is a little overblown, like most nutrition trends you'll overhear at the gym today. You're statistically fine with taking the less bioavailable one (cyanocobalamin), unless you've discovered that you can't process it. Trust me, it'll become painfully obvious if you're one of the few that can't.

Having a cyano functional group doesn't automatically make it bad. This might lead to a lot of unfounded fear. Try to cite your sources for your claims or I'm going to not value your comment
