Yes, you can do this, but you have to wait at least a year after you get the free line. If you do it within the first year of the free line then you'll lose the promotion. It's actually pretty simple, you just port the paid line number you want to keep out of T-Mobile to another carrier. In my case, there was a good Mint promotion going on at the time so I ported the number I wanted to keep over to Mint for 3 months. Once the 3 months at Mint I had pre-paid for expired I ported the number back to T-Mobile into the free line replacing the number I didn't care about keeping. When I did it, I asked if there were any timeline requirements for porting a number out of T-Mobile and back in and they said no. In theory, you could port the number out to another carrier and then port the number back in the next day.
What do you tell tmobile when you are porting the # back ?

I started with 3 lines. I got 5 free lines over the years that I added my brother, his wife and 2 kids and we all split the bill. I got 1 account just sitting there for when I eventually find a wife.Would I do it again? Absolutely, what if I have a kid one day? What if I want a 2nd line for whatever reason? If it's free, who cares?
Thats what I did got a free when my kid was born, now I dont have to worry about paying for another line when he gets older.

I am on Go5G+ First Responders Plan with 3 lines for $135. I will not be eligible for any free line offers. So, any recommendations to lower the bill on T-Mobile? When called the T-Mobile, they always tells me downgrading the plan as an only option.

2 of the line use heavy data for media consumption, so not looking to move into metro, mint or boost kind of service.

Anyone has some suggestions?

THANK YOU!! I'm a single mom and wanted to add a line for my oldest son for so long but couldn't justify adding $50 to my bill every month. Just added this free line. Thanks!!!

How much data do you use per month? You would be throttled if you use too much (fine print). There are 100GB/mo plans at google fi but it's $135 for 3 lines. They use Tmobile.

https://fi.google.com/about/plans?

I found MVNO's prices that use Tmobile are the same as Tmobile minus the small subsidy for netflix. So if Tmobile raises their prices again I'll switch to Mint or Google Fi and get Netflix separately.

I think I'm done after 9 lines…UPS lost the last phone I traded in so I've had to call the last 2 months asking for my $800 credit on the pixel 10 pro deal from a couple of months ago.Or so I'm saying now. I'll try calling tomorrow and trying to I get another line FOR FREE!
So this free line is free forever?
