This is thick and heavy.

Great for smash burgers, searing, and sauteeing.

I have the Crafted insert for this but don't use it. Too lazy. I just place this directly on the grill grates on my Genesis II, and remove it when I need more grill surface area.

Have this and it is great. Nice way to have the best of both worlds when it comes to griddle top and grill. Be careful with the knock off versions around the same price on Amazon. Some are carbon steel, but have a nonstick coating that probably will not last with high heat. The Weber is nice thick steel and seasons well.

Considering how piss poor Weber's "coated" cast iron grates are, I wonder about the longevity of these. My grates started deteriorating after 2 years -- the rest of the grill is fine. I swapped them out for no-name grates that were a fraction of the price that Weber wants.

The only problem I've had is rust from neglect. But I managed to clean off the rust and re-season the surface. You would have to smash repeatedly with a hammer to destroy this thing.

That's good to hear about this griddle.
The grates are supposedly "ceramic coated" and don't have quality iron underneath. Once the coating is off, they're trashed. My only comparison was a set of ceramic coated grates that lasted 11 years from another grill company which went out of business. They probably didn't sell any replacement grates!
