This is an amazingly capable little saw, I grabbed one a month ago for this same price and was honestly a bit shocked by the quality of the thing. I bought it with a few small bush trimming jobs in mind, thinking that if it was such a piece of crap that it broke doing those tasks that I'd send it back, but if it could just get through those it was worth the $20. It made short work of those jobs with no issue. I ended up also using it to completely cut down a dead tree (with a trunk about 8" in diameter) and remove all the branches from said tree. The tree itself is currently still laying in my yard, but I intend to use it to chop it into logs (when it isn't covered in a foot of snow). I'm pretty impressed.

Anyone here already put one of these to heavy use and can give feedback on durability? I had a different (and more familiar brand) of this type of mini-saw, had multiple units quit working where under any load the chain doesn't move and it just lets out a loud motor squeel.

I bought one that looks just like this one but it's yellow. I'm sure it's another brand. It is surprisingly capable! You do have to learn how to adjust the chain and set it back on the track every once in a while. And if you're cutting down anything too big, it will take a while and several passes... but it will still do it.

At this price, kind of tempted to buy another one so I get another battery at least, or two people can be chainsawing it up at the same time.

Dual wield not recommended.

I got this deal last time. Its good enough for small little yard projects. I used mine to cut tree roots. Chain got dull quick.

Used it to rip through a 1/4 cord of wood, worked pretty well but it is rather fatiguing.

I have it; works very well. Had dozens and dozens of lil trees and branches needing to be resized and stacked and got tired of shears and loppers. I've used this to clean up all that mess and no complaints. Things to be ware of (some worthy of consideration, some me just being me):

1. Batteries don't last long though and take forever to charge with the setup. Getting through 30-40 2-3" cuts per battery.

2. Brushed motor. Loud, vibrates and overheats. None of this is a huge deal, but something to be aware of. If/when it overheats, wait a few mins and back in business.

3. No built in oiler. Comes with a tiny squeeze bottle to fill/use, but it's a PITA to find/use when you need it.

4. Doesn't fit perfectly in the case; those who own it know what I mean.

5. Been through over a thousand, maybe two thousand cuts and still on the same chain (sharpened it once).

6. The safety button isn't made for lefties.

7. Chain tensioner is a nuisance.

Were the roots in the ground or above ground and still had dirt on them? Dirt dulls chains very quickly.

They were in the dirt. I expected as much. This saw and battery were cheaper than messing up my larger chainsaw or reciprocating saw.

For $20 it isn't a huge gamble to try out. Especially with people saying it's decent. FYI, Project Farm reviews these small chainsaws but not this particular one. If you need one for heavy use it might be helpful. https://youtu.be/XzWWs5veiGA?si=ichwajSI8SDGaEo4
