It's 60hz and people have complained about excessive fingerprint marks (get a laptop skin sticker?), but other than that it seems very good. Huge battery life with 75Wh and Lunar Lake. Overall really good price for a new 32GB OLED laptop.

So this one is $100 less than the Zenbook 14S I got a BB for 899 (it's back to 1299 but it might go on sale again) a couple weeks ago

https://www.bestbuy.com/product/a...JJGGLH7H3Y

At first I was kinda bummed I could have saved a hundy. I would have been pretty OK with this Vivobook 14. But as I dug deeper I found the differences and not just that the Zenbook is slimmer and sexier.

OLED on Vivobook is not touchscreen
CPU on Vivobook is ultra 7 258v, 8c/8t max 4.8ghz
CPU on Zenbbok is ultra 9 285H, 16c/16t max 5.2ghz

iGPU on both are ARC 140T and are similar, but the 285H is higher bandwidth, speed, and GPU TOPS

So there is nothing WRONG with the Vivobook, but I don't feel so bad now spending $100 more . Plus it is SO SEXY with the metal case. The Vivobook is very plastic-y.

But compared to these current prices, 799 vs 1299, I'd get the Vivobook. No touchscreen displeases the wife however. Weight is about the same, the Zenbook might be 2 ounces lighter, no big.

edit - have since been informed that the Vivobook is not plastic-y , was basing off product photos

CostCo is 16" so apples vs oranges:

I bought this refurb from eBay for $694 [ebay.com] and love it highly recommend for the specs and price point - power, headroom for growth, and portability - refurb came in like new condition with fewer than 10 cycles on the battery, only downside is Asus locks Bios on these, don't know if that's the same with the Zenbook

I bought this laptop on eBay a few months ago. It is fantastic so far. Fantastic battery life and lightweight. The screen does like fingerprints, but it's not touchscreen, so keep your grubby hands off it.

A few things:
iGPU on Vivobook is ARC 140V, not 140T (not that they are much different, but still...)
The Vivobook has a microSD card reader, the Zenbook does not.
The Vivobook is all metal, and doesn't feel plastic-y at all.
The Vivobook has better battery life.
The Ultra 9 285H in the Zenbook you mention throttles quite a bit.
It's possible to get the Core Ultra 5 version of this Vivobook for significantly less when it goes on sale. I picked up mine for $359.99 from Best Buy. Battery life is insanely good (better than the Core Ultra 7), and the Series 2 Ultra 5 is only about 10-15% behind in performance vs the Series 2 Ultra 7 such as is found in the Vivobook being considered here. I don't see this as a such a great deal.

No - the Costco deal is a 16" with a 10-key and i9 processor for only $100 more.

Costco deal is better deal.

Only for $100 you're getting

[1] 285H (way better performance on multi thread)
[2] 16 inch OLED screen.
[3 If you're member you get 90 days return.

Hey you're right I missed the ARC V vs T. Also the microSD, I just noticed mine doesn't have one. Not that I used it a ton, but still.

359 for the ultra 5 vivobook is an insane deal.

I mean all in all, I like the Asus vivo / zen line.

That one is a good deal, but you're moving up to a 16" model for all the added size and weight (still not bad at 3.3 lbs for that size)

Had this been available to me without a costco membership, I might have gone this route

I love how these other deals I would have considered were not an option in my window. Too late now

edit - looks like the costco one is not touchscreen. higher refresh rate though

That one also looks like a good deal. Where were all you people 2 weeks ago? Smilie
