Tech channels benchmark CPUs at 1080p low with a 4090 and then argue over 3–4% FPS differences. In real-world gaming (high/ultra settings), the differences are negligible to non-existent. By the time you reach CPU limits, you'll be upgrading anyway.
Spending hundreds more for 3% gains and extra cores you'll never use makes no sense. Even for productivity, unless it's your full-time job, waiting a few extra minutes isn't life-changing.
Wild that people on Slickdeals push others to overspend chasing tiny gains instead of actual value. What does it matter if you get 10% off when you're paying double or triple for features that you don't even know how to take advantage of?

You are right i5 vs i7 doesn't matter but look at reviews for Ryzen chips, there's a surprisingly big difference between something like a 5800X and any of the X3D chips with more L3 Cache. After you get ones of those then yes it does drop off but there is a noticeable difference with and without it even playing at normal non-CPU testing settings like 1440p Ultra. Not to say non X3D is unusable, but the difference does exist which doesn't matter that much for mid level under $800-tier systems like this.
