I hate these brass quick connects, overtime its really hard to pull them off apart and ends up either permanently stuck or I use extreme force to break them apart that they end up being mangled.
The Gardena and Melnors are way much better although they are plastic, i have a few that are still working quite well.

If you let it sit outside in the cold, it can do that. Try putting some lithium grease.
