Man! That really sucks. My plan ends in 1 week, and I've really enjoyed my switch from Mint to US Mobile, but I need to keep my number, so I'll be looking for something else, I guess. I don't think companies should be allowed to limit present customers. I know the deals couldn't be as low, but they would average it out. Most customers probably don't search deals anyway and just let it renew.
Right but that's why they do these cheap intro deals, to get people to stay on at the higher price. Many will offer some loyalty discount if you call and say you're gonna switch because of the price. Might be able to get the good deal if you buy a phone with it, but most likely would have to get a new number (for text and calls might be good to just get a line of the dirt cheap plans that offer just that so you can keep a number, and then just do a new number when switching for the data, with eSIM its now pretty trivial to have multiple SIMs).

I got a prepaid mastercard for some referrals to US mobile. Easy to deposit the balance into my Amazon account to use every penny.

Be careful folks, not sure how to interpret this, but if you switch to another carrier towards the end of your term (most people will try to switch in the 11th or 12th month) US Mobile can technically charge you the difference and essentially claw back the promo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Network Restrictions
Network transfers are blocked for this offer. Lines must remain on Dark Star for the full duration of the annual cycle. Any attempt to transfer the line to a different network will void any applicable promotional pricing or prepaid card issuance. The line's authorized payment method may be charged the difference between the full price of the annual plan and the discounted promotional price.

Whoa! That's cruel.

In that case, it makes sense to use a virtual CC or a prepaid visa card for the initial payment, and then get rid of the card or empty it.

I believe they cannot stop the port out because that isn't allowed per FCC regulations.

Take a wild guess. This US Mobile seem so shady. I came to this thread because I ordered a US Mobile SIM for a deal a few years ago but when I went to activate it, it said double the price. Customer service assured me I was going to get the price I was offered but I was not going to click submit when right on the screen it showed double. This US Mobile seems too tricky man

That's way better than the 167 deal
Is it? The Black Friday 167 deal was for Unlimited Premium, which in this deal is $390 upfront minus a $211 prepaid card after, for a total of $179.
Seems like the 167 deal is better unless you just want Unlimited Starter and don't care about hotspot and international data.

It's not worth arguing. Both are good deals. Depending on which network works better for each individual, one plan may work better for each person.

Interesting I wonder if it's the same for starter annual promo. I dont intend to switch. I imagine at the end of annual you could go monthly.

The only thing that sucks about US Mobile is their limited Canada / Mexico roaming plans. 200 minutes / 250 txts is no bueno for me. I'm going to look at the Mint Mobile deal instead.
