I believe that the "tornado" feature is just two/three larger openings under the rim of the bowl that face sideways to force the water to spin around the sides, as opposed to other toilets that have downward facing holes. So the only way for it to break would be for the bowl itself to break.

I wish Costco sold the standard height Toto drake. The comfort height they sell is too high unless you pair it with a squatty potty.

I have 2 drakes installed and one more, the old toilets would clog and take forever to flush. Haven't had a single issue with drakes in 2 years. Our master isn't a drake and has also been fine, but really just get a toilet that isn't bottom of the barrel

I ordered one of these from Ferguson about two years ago. Tank arrived intact. After the third base arrived in pieces, Ferguson gave me $100 to have the broken bases hauled away and I bought the base at a local plumbing supply store.
I had the exact same problem with Ferguson delivery of my Drake base. Local supply house to the rescue.

$300 is decent but you can find these on Amazon (especially as a separate tank and base) for this price pretty often.

Any issues with the Tornado Flush mechanism breaking?
I got two and one of them start making the hissing noise, everyone online said it is the refilling valve, changed to a better one, but still hissing. Later on, I change the flush seal ring, $5, and no more hissing noise.

2 questions for anyone who owns these.
1) Fluidmaster fill valve?
2) What kind of flush valve?

A potential fix for a hissing fill valve is to close your supply valve coming out your wall. After flushing turn the valve to see if it helps. Yes, it might take a little longer to fill the toilet tank but the hissing might stop.

Got the Drake with my remodel and have been disappointed. Maybe I got a defective one but the special coating does not work. Things stick to the bowl more than the old 20 year cheapo toilet it replaced.
Diet perhaps?

I never had problem with Drake...

Great toilet from a great brand. I tend to clog toilets at an alarming rate. I only clog this maybe once per year at most. We've had ours about 10 years with no issues. Got 3 more for a reno the last time these were $300. Given that toilets generally last decades, there is no point in cheaping out over $100-$200.

This is a great price. The seat alone is worth 50.

The best toilet, at least my older ones are. I got a free new one on FB marketplace a few months ago. Haven't installed it yet but I love these things

nice looking toilet. Is toto a good brand?
One of the best out there. Origin in Japan. When we visited Japan, we saw mostly bidets in hotels and they were impressive. Jazzy features in their bidets there. Of course, you can find similar ones here, too.

Going rate I checked here.....about two to three hundred dollars for a change out. Might be different in different areas and how the local market works.

Does this rival a Ferguson? (Al Bundy joke).

Ugh. This is so disappointing. We have a brand new house with six western pottery toilets. I want to replace them all, but don't know where to start. They don't clog, but they don't take the poop off the side of the bowl, even with multiple flushes. You have to clean the bowl with a brush almost every time there is a number two. Does anyone have recommendations for a toilet that does not clog but also cleans the bowl consistently?
If that's happening every time, it's an issue with your family's diet, not the toilets. Take psyllium husk fiber daily and cut down on processed foods, especially those containing corn syrup.

I've gradually been replacing our toilets with these. I haven't had a clog yet.
