I believe that the "tornado" feature is just two/three larger openings under the rim of the bowl that face sideways to force the water to spin around the sides, as opposed to other toilets that have downward facing holes. So the only way for it to break would be for the bowl itself to break.

I wish Costco sold the standard height Toto drake. The comfort height they sell is too high unless you pair it with a squatty potty.

I have 2 drakes installed and one more, the old toilets would clog and take forever to flush. Haven't had a single issue with drakes in 2 years. Our master isn't a drake and has also been fine, but really just get a toilet that isn't bottom of the barrel

Wish this was the 1.6gpf version my ancient septic system would not be happy with 1.2gpf
Help me understand why a septic system needs more water flow, thanks. Confused

Edit: From Google: No, septic systems don't require more water flow; in fact, less water is generally better, as high-efficiency (low-flow) toilets are recommended to reduce strain, but they need enough water to properly carry solids to the tank, so older, inefficient toilets can be problematic by overwhelming the system or, conversely, by not flushing effectively enough, causing clogs in pipes. The key is a balanced flow that cleans the pipes without overloading the tank, making low-flow toilets [google.com] a good choice if they have sufficient flushing power, often with a strong siphon jet.

Got the Drake with my remodel and have been disappointed. Maybe I got a defective one but the special coating does not work. Things stick to the bowl more than the old 20 year cheapo toilet it replaced.
More veggies, bruh!

I got two of this Costco model and another Drake 1.28GPF from Home Depot. The Costco one doesn't flush as strong as the home depot version. The other odd thing is the Costco one has the flush handle mounted vertically like the picture which looks strange, while the home depot one is more of the common horizontal handle. Apparently that's how the Costco model is made.

Great toilet from a great brand. I tend to clog toilets at an alarming rate. I only clog this maybe once per year at most. We've had ours about 10 years with no issues. Got 3 more for a reno the last time these were $300. Given that toilets generally last decades, there is no point in cheaping out over $100-$200.

From google AI:

Standard Height (around 14-15 inches, traditional) and Comfort Height/Chair Height/ADA Height (17-19 inches, easier for most adults/mobility.

"Comfort height" refers to taller toilets, typically 17-19 inches high (floor to seat), designed to match standard chair height for easier sitting and standing, benefiting taller people, seniors, and those with mobility issues by reducing strain on knees and back, though some argue standard heights are better for body mechanics

"Standard height" usually refers to average height, which varies globally but is around 5'9" (175cm) for men and 5'4" (163cm) for women in the US, with European countries often having taller averages and Asian/South American nations having shorter average.

In my home, my family members fit the "standard hight" range and it's more ergonomic.

I installed three Toto Drake 1.6 gpf toilets earlier this year and chucked the original 1978 made toilets in my house. Tremendous flush. You do need to give the sides of the bowls a brush more often to clear specks. One of has started to have a delayed fill after flush, but I haven't had a chance to take out the flusher and inspect. I suspect a washer slipped out of place or a piece of debris is preventing a good siphon to trigger the fill.

Just got Glacer Bay power flush ..has some pressure bladder or something. Works like your on a plane. Used tablets in old unit and caused weak flush..never again not worth it.

FYI according to the spec sheet from the Costco website, these only have 2 1/8" traps, whereas the versions sold at HD and Lowe's list a 2.5" trap. That's gotta make a big difference in terms of clog-ability. Decided against buying this now because of it

We went from Kohler that plugged weekly with a five year old to Toto drakes. In ten years, they have plugged a handful of times.
Had one for 2 years. Never clogged it. It might be too tight of a bend in your sewer line.
