Make sure the IDE you're planning on using is ARM compatible. Most non-arm small programs I've tried on arm emulate well. No drivers seem to work with emulation, they have to be specifically compiled for arm. Larger programs tend to have at least certain feature that just don't work.

I'm not sure who this is for exactly. I'm a fan of ARM in some cases, but at this price point with a 120hz IPS though I don't really understand who they want to buy this

I got this a while ago, this is by far the best price I've seen on the 32GB version so far. I haven't had any ARM incompatibilities so far, only oddities. Though I haven't pushed it too hard.
I generally use it as a Visual Studio dev machine: C#, ASP.NET, Azure Functions, WASM, etc. 16GB RAM would not have cut it.
Trackpad is haptic with which I am happy beyond words to have in a Windows laptop. I would have went with the Lenovo as it was substantially cheaper, but it had a diving board.

With the 16GB/1TB version selling for $750 at Costco right now, $250 more for 16GB of RAM is a hard pill to swallow. Ugh.

Better to pay extra $250 if you plan to use it for next 5-6 years. In my opinion it could be worth it.
Though curious on the difference between 2024 and 2025 versions. This one says it's a 2024 version.

The Surface Laptop 7 was released in June 2024. Microsoft has not refreshed it since then, so there is no 2025 version. I assume they're going to refresh this with the Surface Laptop 8 in 2026 when the Snapdragon X2 chips start shipping.

This same configuration is available on the Microsoft Store for $999.99.

AMEX also has an offer that if you spend $1000 or more online at Microsoft.com/en-us, earn $250 back. Not sure if this is a targeted offer, but it showed up on my AMEX card.

Using the AMEX offer brings this laptop configuration down to $750.

Great, thanks. Is there any fillers to get over $1000

Also can dual linux be setup with this?

Sales tax needs to be added, so that should get you over the $1000.

One additional note for more savings, Microsoft is also offering additional trade-in values for your old laptop if you purchase certain Surface configurations (unfortunately, this one is not one of them).
Example: My Macbook Air 13 (2020 with M1) trade-in value is $191.25, but boosted to $420.75 if I purchase a Surface Laptop 7, Copilot+PC 13.8in Snapdragon X Plus/16GB/256GB or Surface Laptop 7, Copilot+PC 13.8in Snapdragon X Elite/32GB/1TB.

Quick Google search indicates that latest Ubuntu is installable and things are improving gradually, but you will not have a smooth experience with Linux on a Surface 7 yet.
