Respect your opinion and would like to offer another without disagreeing with you, but the Pro 2 (never had a chance to try the 3) is one of my absolute favorite controllers. It's compatible with everything, it fits great/perfectly in my hand, the Pro 2 definitely has Hall Effect sticks too. I think the Ultimate 2C is a great controller but I think for people who like the feel of the Nintendo Pro controller (1st), this controller is awesome!

The Pro 2 stands out as a very comfortable, versatile controller with Hall effect sticks, broad compatibility, and a layout that feels like a blend of classic Nintendo and PlayStation pads. The d pad gets strong praise, the motion sensor is described as accurate, and the plastic does not feel cheap. It also supports a battery pack or AA batteries, which is increasingly uncommon. The main drawbacks are the START button sitting close to ABXY for some hands, no back buttons, a sealed battery, and Switch 2 support needing a firmware update without wake from sleep. A solid pick if you want that familiar Pro style.

The light grey one is $42, but there is a coupon to take $10 off, making it $32. You can buy multiple and the coupon applies to each controller. Not sure if that is available to everyone, but I saw it as of 12/15/25 @ 845 AM MST.
YMMV. Same price, but no coupon.

Used like new is $25 though.

Can this wake the Switch 2? I'm assuming no?

It cannot. I have the Pro 2 in light gray and while it does sync with the latest firmware, it will not wake Switch 2.

Only if you're good with 360. While that is indeed a very nice price, it's a $#!T design [for me, obv 360 fans rejoice].

Also: no back buttons + sealed battery + odd seller doesn't exactly scream "better."

Good find tho.

This is a fantastic controller. It has Hall effect sticks and the options for a battery pack or AA batteries. Hate that 8bitdo starting removing AA as an option on later versions.
Agree with the AA battery comment. There are not many controllers being offered in the market with AA battery option. This controller is one of the few and will be unfortunately phase out due to Pro 3.

Coming from a PlayStation controller enjoyer, this is the next best thing. Especially for the price. The joysticks are a bit stiff though.

I have several 8Bitdo controllers, including this one. Most of their controllers are made very well and are a great value. This particular controller I absolutely hate. The START button is far too close to the ABXY buttons, and I would frequently hit the START button when playing games like Smash Bros. For the same price you can get the 8Bitdo Ultimate 2C controller, which has Hall Effect sticks and a much better layout.
2C is a decent controller at a cheaper price. I just received my 2C yesterday. It's the typical Xbox layout, with button A at bottom. I'm more comfortable with A on the right (PS and Switch style). Will return 2C and buy this.
Bestbuy sent out $5 certificate for many, plus 5% CB when checkout with PayPal and Chase Freedom. Might be cheaper if you don't see a coupon on Amazon.

Surprisingly well done controller. It's a good "I just need a cheap controller" controller. Plastic doesn't feel cheap, motion sensor is accurate, Super Nintendo fans will like the d-pad. One thing I wish is that the grips were angled more, the xbox controller was a little more comfortable to me.
