I've seen a couple of these Wolverine deals where it lists the boot as "insulated" but doesn't actually give any information about this insulation other than "thermal foam insulation". No grade, weight (like Thinsulate), or rating.

I have a hard time believing those claims. With that having been said, I've had pretty good luck with Wolverines in the past, but they are one of the other brands I've ever had to get insoles for because my feet would get so sore by the end of the day

I bought the Luton waterproof hiker last year. I am not tough on shoes by any stretch of the imagination.
That boot was $35, it's my favorite boot. Light, waterproof enough for me and a 7.5 out of 10 for ease of putting them on.

I wish they would put another boot like that on sale again.

I have these, it says "Expedition Insulation 400" on the tongue. They are very comfortable. Got them awhile back for 48$ here.

How do they hold up in the cold? I don't have a point of reference to what "expedition insulation" entails. I'm assuming it's 400 grams?

That's my take (on the weight) I'm in Central Tx so they haven't been given a proper cold weather try yet. An ai search said it could be thinsulate, but in my thinking if it were actual thinsulate, that would take a higher billing than the waterproof logo. I'll also add that my pair only have two set of speed hooks where the listed photo shows three. Mine are a breeze to put on and take off.
