And, personally, I'll take Google TV as the OS over Roku without a second thought. They're both harvesting your data, but Roku's ads are significantly more annoying and their updates are notorious for changing defaults and adding channels to increase data harvesting. You also can't sideload anything on Roku TVs, but Google TV will let you install TizenTube Cobalt, which is a YouTube client that uses Sponsorblock. And don't like the Google TV launcher? Change it to something significantly better like Projectivy Launcher [google.com]. This might be irrelevant if you have a streamer you want to use, but I actually ditched the streamer since I could customize Google TV.
Roku remotes are better, though.
Part of me is wondering if I should hold out for a qm7k or qm8k.
It's just for me and I don't game. But do watch sports.
But Costco doesn't sell them - so then I'm worried about the extended warranty. Best buy would be 200 for 5 years.

I'm (mostly) leaning toward the QM6 because I don't think I'll care about the advantages of the QM7 for the price difference. It's definitely a better TV in every way, but my understanding is that the QM6 Pro available at Costco uses the same panel as the QM7 and QM8, which further reduces the advantages for me. Plus, as you noted, the extended warranty is quite a bit more.
I convinced myself pretty easily that the QM8 isn't worth the premium. 6 to 7 is a decent jump, 7 to 8 is not. I'm the same level of TV snob that I am a wine snob: I can appreciate the expensive stuff, avoid the cheap, but always happily settle on a solid mid-grade value.
I'm not sure why you think there are bothersome ads. Unless you use the free Roku channel there is none of that and you can opt out of the data collection.
The picture is bright when it needs to be and still crisp in dark scenes where other sets have failed me. Mini-LED is the real deal. Go look at one in Best Buy.
It is thin and mounts flat on wall with the custom bracket which still allows the bottom to tilt out if you need to plug stuff in.
Lighted rechargeable voice remote is slick and un-loseable because you can talk to it.
I picked up the sub and sound bar in a combo deal a year or two ago with another set and "it just works." It's decent for a budget setup.
I've loved it. At least go look at one. Best Buy guy tried to upsell me to make more green, but admitted it was nice.
