On cyber Monday, I got this laptop (same configuration) from Lenovo for $2,552.99 (including all taxes). Everything seems great, except battery life. Not sure if this is expected given it's a gaming laptop. If nothing is running, the battery can last for 7-8 hours. I checked with youtube running, it lasted for ~1 hours. I am not going to use it for games; the main job will be running AI/ML models. Does battery life seem okay to you guys?

That kinda makes sense because the 9955HX3D, or any dual chiplet AMD mobile CPUs for that matter, tends to have really bad battery life. 1 hour on YouTube seems really terrible, though. Maybe you can put it on the lowest performance mode and push the brightness way down.

Yea this is a very good deal for this setup. I think there were some deals in the low $2400 range with 64GB and only 1 TB SSD and Windows Home off the Lenovo site at the time. This has more perks which makes it a nice system ready to use out of the box.

I got the Intel version of this deal for $2300. Is AMD really supposed to be better?

Yes. Better performance on CPU dependent games. However, worse battery life and more expensive.

I have the 5070 ti version with Intel. It is an incredible laptop. It is a tier down but still incredible.
The port configuration is annoying. Power connection on the left. Headphones on the right.

AI/ml on laptop isn't that great. 5080 is like 5070 ti desktop with power caps. I would go for desktop and a thin light long battery life configuration myself for the price. But that probably doesn't suit your needs but just what would work best for me. Desktop CPUs on laptops for workstation has been nothing but inconveniences for me.

Agreed. I got this during the thanksgiving, cost me 2569$ with $353 cb from Rktn, but the battery is terrible on this. With iGpu only, All Gaming lights turned off, Bluetooth off, and basic browsing lasted ~ 3hrs.

This is expected because this chip has 2 CCD exactly the same design from desktop 9950x3d part, which isn't great for laptop in term of power efficiency. Idle power is pretty high, you can check many review. Also this doesn't have USB4.
That's why I went with Intel variant pro 7i instead, not saying this is a bad buy or anything. But this AMD variant should be use like a desktop replacement.

Grabbed this over the BF / CM weekend for under $2,300. Incredibly powerful laptop. I tested 40K: Space Marine 2 out on it after setting it up. Max settings and it averages over 100 fps. Doesn't get that loud compared to other gaming machines of this size. Quality build. I'm very impressed with AMD this time around. Would recommend.

Kind of crazy that ram prices have jumped so much that it's almost cheaper to buy this with a 5080 than buy a 5060 Legion 5 with a 16 GB stick and upgrade to 64 GBs.
