This is the metaphorical equivalent of a realistic milsim for medieval RPG.

You will probably die ruthlessly at the hands of two bandits while you flail your sword around, wondering why you aren't wearing any armor, because you forgot to put your clothes on after bathing in the river, because you smelled horrible and the NPC you needed to talk to wouldn't talk with you until you cleaned up.

10/10. PS - put on padding before chain mail

This and the first game are pretty good. Immersive.
The game has been on sale all over the place, but I think I want it from GOG instead of these other places.

Is the Royal edition worth it over the base?

This is a great game, but be warned that if you play with controller, there are some major shenanigans going on with the latest update. It runs amazing on SteamDeck though.

If this is your type of game, then I would say yes. If you're not sure how much you'll like it then I would just go with the base game.

There is some good dlc included i believe. I bought the gold edition - Xbox for $40 on Woot a few months back and very happy with it.

Not for everybody, but I feel like it's a game you either love or just feel meh on. It's a slower paced game, combat is one of those things that's super hard at first and then you become too strong and it's trivial by the end. Completion rating on Steam is just under 30%... not bad for a longer game (Clair Obscur is somewhere in the upper 30s, Boulder's Gate 3 is in the mid 20s).

Yes! You'll get multiple DLC packs, one of which costs the 13 dollar difference alone. While some are just new questlines and inconsequential in my opinion, Two of the dlc packs really stand out. One opens up a whole new area to explore with a decently long quest line and another pack adds a player home / business that you can customize.

"Jesus Christ be praised!"

Such an amazing RPG. The most immersive I've played since FO3/NV.
