Reviews say the piece the filter goes into that screws in from the bottom and coffee comes out of is plastic. So coffee is coming in contact with plastic. Disappointing if you thought this was all stainless steel pour-over.

Just to be sure I looked at a video review and it's true. Not only is the bottom where the coffee comes out plastic but the top of the plastic part actually sits in the pour-over and is submerged in coffee. Hard pass.

I took some screenshots:

I've never used a stainless steel mesh filter than was as good as paper. It seems really durable, but I like my coffee smooth.

These are great if you want to try pour over coffee. They clean up super easy too.

It's the reviewer's hands. But if all you see are hands then I suggest an eye examination ASAP

Did not know they made this form factor as always seen the glass ones. What a great product to keep the water warm during brew/filtration.

I used a metal mesh filter for years. Here's the thing, metal mesh doesn't filter coffee as well, it lets through all the heavy oils that you don't want. 10 months ago my cholesterol was 250+, my doc said I was working towards a stroke (I have a desk job). All I did was immediately switch from half and half to shit soy creamer and switched to a paper filters and now I'm under 200. No other major changes to lifestyle or diet.

Other than that, you'll end up with small tiny bits of coffee debris on the bottom of your cup..This might works with tea though..

I bought this in Hammerstone green with the cup for $25 a couple years ago. It is a fantastic setup for home or camping. 5 stars all the way.

Yeah, it's only really worthwhile as a set. Otherwise just get a glass Chemex or a $10 metal or ceramic dripper that sits on your cup.
