People got short memories. $100 extra on RAM is nothing compared to $300-1000 markups when RTX 5000 series was released late last year.

A memory chip shortage is looming.
AI uses a ton of memory, Nvidia server rack uses 20 TB of expensive HBM ( High band width ) and an additional 17 TB of DDR.
Micron sold out it's entire HBM production for fiscal 2026.
Veterans of the pandemic chip shortage will find 2026 and maybe 2027 familiar.
Counterpoint Research estimate prices rose 50% in fourth qtr and will jump another 40% in first qtr.
