this is a good deal. however you are paying $100 extra for 256GB as usual apple notorious price strategy if you can deal with 128G , spend $100 less and get this deal from target [target.com].

I tend to keep my iPads fairly long. The one thing that makes them slow and obsolete after a few years is always the fact that I'm running out of space. I think my next purchase will actually be the larger option. Might keep the iPad useful for longer and thus make up for the extra dollars. (And yes, I agree, it's a ripoff, but what isn't these days…)

You have clearly never had an iPad that has 1GB of space left and has come to a crawl making it basically useless. Not that you're wrong with aging processors, but the iPad definitely needs space for cache to operate efficiently.

I placed an order and then they just changed it to 499 for me, it's out of stock now, so blue you cant do. but as long as you can order it on shop, and then target has it in stock/ready to ship. they will adjust it. my ship date is 12/24. they must be backordered but yeah. they matched from 699 to 499

I placed it then I called to make adjustment.

got the 128gb and pencil for Procreate and other drawing apps, will it be fine for that just starting out with digital drawing?

Got a screaming deal on one of these a while back, like $325 for an open box. It's nice but I wish these were lighter, more like the pads they use on Star Trek TNG. By the time you add a case and stuff its like a laptop with a smaller screen, one day it will be like a magazine weight

Really tempted, but I want an OLED iPad. Going to hold out for Apple to bring OLED to the other iPads, not just the pro.

Fact is that OS keeps getting bigger, and apps keep getting bigger. At some point if you want to keep all your favorite apps, you run out of space. And also at some point won't be able to download the latest OS. If you get one storage size up, you just won't have this headache for a lot longer.

Besides, I didn't say to toss the old device and get a new one. I said that if you can afford it, just get one storage size bigger than the minimum when you get a new iPad.

Yep. And look for the paper like screen protectors that make it feel like you are drawing on real paper

Tbh for an iPad, 128g is more than enough for me. I don't have a point to load my [258gb of photos] or other non essential stuff on. I only look at the iPad as an extension vs essential of my set up and use. Anything I truly need can either grabbed from the cloud or airdropped over. Hell I even stick my usb into my phone and transfer files over if I truly needed it. iOS itself only takes about 22gb.

I would advise against an IPad. If it had a MacOS it would be a beast. But it's basically a paperweight with Apples meager iPad app selection. You will likely be fine paying for the $250 version

I think it just really depends on what you use it for. The criticism about the meager app selection is spot on, but it's not that bad if someone ever really only needs it for a handful of things like drawing or general web surfing. I myself have one that I take with me traveling instead of my heavy MBP. I do wish it could do all the things my Macbook can, but the target audience for the iPad probably isn't even aware of what MacOS can do that their iPad can't, and if you told them, they probably wouldn't care.
