You gotta get to it, then go back for it

Getting back is a luxury of having arrived.

The Acer one has a significantly better screen: 1920x1200 180hz 400 nits 100% sRGB.

Edit: as Jarmander pointed out, only the 1600p screen is 100% sRGB.

From what I've read on here and elsewhere, the problem with the acer is the battery drains even while plugged in.

This one?

Wish when people asked for a comparison they were forced to link to the other deal. 😉

Note -- THIS IS ABOUT THE ACER NOT THIS LOQ:

Yes, if the specs [for the Acer] are correct on the Walmart website. 5050 and 5060 versions both come with a 135w chargers and the GPUs are rated to 85 watts. They drain the battery on turbo mode which overstocks the GPU (and sometimes performs mode) with certain games, even with the PSU plugged in. Acer's fix was to remove turbo mode through a BIOS update. From what I've read, a more powerful PSU won't help due to the system being locked to 135w max. Edit: Apparently you could use a larger PSU with an older BIOS if you downgrade.

I believe only the 1600p version is 100% sRGB.

It does, when in turbo mode. You can use a bigger power adapter to fix this. If it does drain while you're using turbo mode, it'll automatically throttle down when at 30% battery to prevent further battery drain.

It is very unfortunate that Acer used an undersized charger.

On the other hand, the battery life is excellent; over 11 hours of browsing the Web on Wi-Fi.

Thanks for posting this OP Smilie

I noticed that the walmart description mentions "83JG006RUS" which I'm guessing is the model number?

A google search turns this up from Lenovo's website

https://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/L...83JG006RUS

So if I'm reading this right there's an empty m2 slot to add a second hard drive? For snobs like me who insist on the second hard drive slot in a laptop Stick Out Tongue (may be increasingly hard to come across I admit as AI continues to gobble up all resources for consumer-brand type tech for us ordinary folk who are not AI tech tycoons Smilie ) I admit this may become increasingly hard to come by! Stick Out Tongue

Not sure if the laptop comes populated with a single 16 GB ram stick or two 8 GB sticks of ram? Mind you given the price of ram nowadays (thanks a lot AI) I'm thinking we should cry tears of joy if we buy a laptop with 16 GB of ram and just leave it at that for.. years possibly.. anyways Stick Out Tongue
