Actually a Slick Deal! I have the 5.5 cup and it makes perfect, really fluffy rice everytime. Don't get me wrong, a regular rice cooker can make rice just fine, but the Zojirushi and Cuckoo takes your rice up to a new level. The rice comes out the same everytime even if I go a little over or under on the water.

And for Sushi rice. It has the wait time prior to start cooking built in. Just wash your wash and go. And in case anyone needed a Sushi Rice Recipe:

Short grain calrose rice. Nishiki if you can't decide.

Rinse 2 cups of rice until clean with cold water. Around ten times if you don't know.
Put in rice maker.
Add 2 cups of cold water and cook.
Meanwhile, pour 1/3 cup of rice vinegar into a saucepan.
Add 1 tbsp salt and 1.5-2 tbsp sugar. Whisk until dissolved and pour into container to cool.

When rice is done cooking dump in into a wide-bottomed container and use wooden or plastic paddle to spread the rice out.
Pour the rice vin mixture over the rice and mix well.
Let cool for 20-30 min, stirring every five or so to release steam.
Once rice is warm but not hot to touch, use it to make whatever type of sushi you like.
Happy Holidays!

Warning you do not need 10 cups. I did this as a single guy. And oh boy did i miss judge how much 10 cups of rice is. I will say i still have it 11 years later in perfect condition. So the brand is awesome.

Better to a get a dedicated use rice cooker or something like an instant pot which has more options?

How did the rice come out cooking for one person? Did it not do a good job or are you saying the capacity is just overkill? I just bought this and it's for two people. I'm hoping it'll do a good job only cooking 2 cups at a time

I bought 5.5 last month. It did cooked rice nicely. I need to play around more to get it just right. If I were to do it again, i might have went for 10 cups for bigger capacity for bigger parties. As others mentioned, 10 cups is max and you can cook as much rice as you need. Their size different is not too bad, but i guess if you are really low on counterspace, smaller is indeed smaller.

If you don't have the budget an insta pot is a good all around cooking device, but it's not a necessity anymore than a slow cooker is. If you have the option a dedicated rice cooker is going to do a better just b at rice with better results and you can cook other things in it too like soup, jambalaya, my old cooker had a recipe for chicken and rice in the rice cooker.

I didn't believe in a rice cooker until I bought our first one...cheap basic model...and we were enlightened. I'm ony 2nd rice cooker in 20 years...a fairly nice aroma digital that the display stopped working for the countdown 5 years ago.
I'm in for one of these because I know we will use it a lot and enjoy the better quality rice

Is the inside of this stainless steel or at least made of material that won't cause cancer?

I'm cooking for one person using this larger model. Even if you only cook 1 cup of white Thai jasmine long grain rice or Japanese koshihikari short grain rice, it'll come out great. I was using a 5.5 cup before buying the bigger 10 cup version. The biggest difference is, the 10 cup seems to cook slightly faster with a slightly larger footprint. If cooking 1-2 cups of rice, it'll be a great device.

+1 on this. It will cook rice perfectly either 2 cups or 10 cups. I have this for about 15 years and bought this even though we mostly cook rice for 3 people. The extra capcity was when we have guests and it does the same.

If I cooked more rice/had more people living with me/had more counter space, I'd totally get this, but 10 cup is a little overkill for mostly just me/sometimes my fiancee or guests. Wish they had a deal on a good 3-5 cup one with a smaller profile. The Instapot I have is great/cooks rice fast, but takes up a lot of space

I've been waiting for the 5.5 cup model to drop but at this price, with this kind of feedback, I think I'll pull the trigger on this for household of 1.

I paid about $155 before tax 3 years ago so definitely a good buy at $165 given the all the price inflation as of late. It's a great rice cooker and I cannot recommend it enough.

You can manage to get okay results with a multicooker, but if you eat rice regularly, nothing will beat the the quality, convenience, and consistency of this. Zojirushi has been the gold standard rice cooker for generations (modern Cuckoo and Tiger cookers are also great). We've been using ours for over a decade and will probably never have to replace it.

That's a preference thing. A lot of people who eat a lot of rice have said IP rice is not even in the same league as rice cooker rice, especially not from a Zojirushi. If you're not much of a rice person and have some other uses for the IP in mind, then I'd go that way.

FWIW, you can actually cook full meals in a rice cooker. Tons of content on IG (and probably YT) covering this, and it's the reason I'm taking the plunge, personally.
