Isn't this stuff just Citric acid? I think it's much cheaper to buy Citric acid and just use that?

I have been using vinegar for the past two years to clean my Keurig K-Supreme Single Serve Coffee Maker. However, I noticed that during my last cleaning session, the plastic part surrounding the pod area was significantly discolored. Now I am wondering what the best cleaning solution would be to avoid further damage or discoloration to the plastic parts.

You can. $4 for a gallon, you can do it many timess over compared this more expensive option. I just did it this weekend, removed some incredibly deep scaling no problem. And I have incredibly hard water. This product is just for those who wouldn't bother taking 5 seconds to Google a way to descale the pot.

Citric acid is optimal for coffee makers and rubber parts

I have, it breaks down gaskets; which I learned the hard way.

Yep. Been using vinegar for more than 10 years on my Ninja, manual even recommends it.

It's possible that many coffee makers are using synthetic gaskets and not actual rubber, hence why many specifically call for vinegar to be used as a descaling agent in the instruction manual. I'm a big proponent of RTFM.

Even if it's diluted? I always use 1 cup of vinegar and fill the rest of the water tank with water. So I'm not worried about the heavily diluted solution breaking down the gasket.

Yes. It can cause damage and it's not the best for the type of buildup that happens. These types of products are better in comparison
