If you put this on an aluminum fitting on water hose, it will fuse it together after a year or so. If you want to use this on an aluminum fitting, get a plastic one from dollar store.

Is this quality enough to use it as the primary on/off for my spigot ? IE have the regular spigot open all the way and have this attached as the primary valve.

Not the same. That one has a 0.35" flow diameter vs the Hydro Master with a 0.51" flow diameter.

If you're handy, you'll probably already have some anti-seize sitting around. You can just put that on the threads when you screw aluminum to brass fittings

Other than those expanding hoses, regular hose ends aren't usually aluminum are they?

But personally I'd just kink the hose if I needed to temporarily stop water from it. You're not supposed to leave these hoses under pressure, they will burst eventually.

be careful if you live in an area that it gets below freezing. the frost free valves shut off water inside the walls, not outside.

but also... im curious why you would want to keep your regular spigot open and use this instead.
