So to me this is almost as good as it gets.

Regardless of what Phillps / Gaggia / Saeco you buy they all share the same "removable brew group" (AKA... they system that makes your espresso). So their most expensive and this machine will make the identical cup of espresso... the differences are how many different degrees can you change your drink, more micro settings, better finishings and that is about it.

What makes Saeco so good is that their system is fully removable and cleanable... when there is a problem you can usually fix it your self and it is considered best for DIY maintenance.

My brother has a Saeco system... he tells me that sometime he gets 3 warnings at the same time.... it could be water tank is empty, coffee grounds are empty, coffee grounds need to be cleaned... and one time there was a fourth... water resovoir under your cup was full... each one of these warnings will prevent the machine from working.

I think this could be one of the best "automatic" espresso machines deals around.

I got the 3200 during black friday and its been a great purchase. Obviously a manual machine is going to get you a better brew as you can dial in so many things manually but for the price and convenience this does really well. It's very user friendly and easy to use and easy to maintain. There are some videos out there that show you how to tweak a few options to help you get a better coffee from the machine if you feel like you need it. I would purchase this again if given the option. I might even upgrade to a higher model is the price was right.

Why didnt you order another at full price and return the broken one on that order? Its not like they record a serial number with each purchase.
So... I want good coffee and I am all about value. I have been using the "cheapest" espresso machine for the last decade and decided on upgrading. I choose the Bambino - Used Like New, sold by Amazon. I receive it and there is a stress crack in the water reservoir where this plastic piece hooks to the machine so it stays in place. I don't feel this will effect the life of my machine but it is clearly not "like new". By the way I got it for $182. I called Amazon and said, I would only keep the machine if they give me $50 off which is the price of the water tank that has stress cracks and they agreed. So I just paid $132 for the Bambino.

By the way, before I called and negotiated the $50 off, I felt like doing what you described but my personal values prevent me from doing that.

And this machine (back to this deal) is considered the best for DIY fixes. Why could he not fix it and ask Amazon for a larger discount? That is what I would always try to do.

I don't think a manual machine is "better" as you suggest. The automatic machines will make a much more consistent cup of coffee every time... maybe the learning curve is longer (grind level, bean flavor, water temp, etc... ) but I think both machines make excellent cups of coffee with no one beating the other.

I highly recommend your suggestion... There are some videos out there that show you how to tweak a few options to help you get a better coffee from the machine if you feel like you need it.

Upgrading will not change the actual system that makes your coffee... it is more about everything else.

Got this model for same price last black Friday. Makes good espresso, but since this is my first espresso machine, I have nothing to compare it to. I will return it back, because all my attempts to brew pre-grinded coffee resulted in the just boiled water in my cup, and coffee failed directly to the garbage container. I followed the instructions to the letter, but still no luck. Maybe something wrong with just my machine... Also this model is discontinued by Philips.
Davinci magnifica has worked well for me for pre ground coffee.

I bought and returned the product within a week. I suspect I received a defective item from Amazon. It feels incredibly cheap, almost entirely made of plastic. My unit leaked water as soon as I turned it on, and the base was warped, causing it to wobble. Phillips customer service is atrocious; they take an agonizingly long time to respond, almost a month, before providing a resolution.

If you're seeking a dependable coffee maker, consider investing an additional $100 and purchasing a Breville or Ninja Luxe during their sale. These machines are designed to last at least 5-6 years, making them a worthwhile investment when you're spending over $400.

I bought the Ninja Lux Pro for 420 after cash back and coupons on 12/06. Blows this away...I would wait for another sale.

We've had one of these for 3 years now. Its been perfectly reliable. It does require cleaning the machine and occasionally lubricating the mechanism. Does it make the best cup of coffee or expresso I've ever had? No. It is pretty damn good for something you put beans in and fill up with water and push a button? Absolutely.

I have been looking at something like this for awhile. Is this worth the upgrade from a Nespresso vertuo machine?

I'd agree with this.I got one of these 3200 LatteGo machines last year when they had the $230 certified refurb deals. It makes ok espresso. Definitely gotta put good decent beans in. Not garbage lavazza from amazon that are usually several months old. Go to Costco or Sams Club and find something with a recent date. Or local coffee shop beans. But the grouphead is plastic so it's only going to be so good. It's a low maintenance machine. You can make 15 or so shots before you have clean the bottom drip pan or refill the hopper. You definitely want to take the unit out the side every 2 months and clean the automatic assembly.Otherwise if you just want basic espresso and don't want fuss it's fine. I got it because I have 3 kids and haven't had time to mess with my Breville 860XL as much as I'd like. It went into storage.Having a milk frother is a good hack for making fluffy hot chocolate, which my daughter loves. You can make frothed milk with this machine if you hit the latte button and then press and hold the bean button for "add my own beans" and don't add any. Then make a latte and it'll steam the milk and you can take the cup away before it tries brewing.
Genius !

I went from K-cups to the Ninja Lux Cafe and I'm kicking myself I waited so long thinking subpar coffee was life. I now have a latte every day with fresh beans and frothed almond milk. I can't speak to this machine but I'm intrigued. I will say the Ninja Lux is very easy to use.

Can you estimate how many espressos you can make from one 24oz bag of coffee beans?
