A "Woot off" is where they feature 1 item at a time at a pretty steep discount (usually). As soon as that 1 item sells out (sometimes within 30 seconds, other times in 1-2 minutes) they switch in a new item.

You really have just a couple seconds to see the item and decide if you want to buy it, because it will sell out (and fast). They had things like Dehydrators for $12 (which might normally run $30-50), home decor for $15 that might run for $40, etc..

It's nice in that there are lots of good deals, but it's also time consuming (watching the app and constantly seeing what's being added), and you don't have any time to actually research it, because it will sell out. You're basically seeing a picture + rating for the item and saying "Yes, I'll buy that for $4!" and hoping for the best
Some deals are awesome, some are mid, some are just weird

Be careful with this BS. Check the price on the Amazon website. You'll often find that contrary to their claim, it's not much cheaper on Woot. For instance, this $50 tool [woot.com] is $60 on Amazon, nowhere near the $120 they claim.

Sure, but Woot is pretty honest about that if you hover over "Reference Price"

I feel they still make sense -- most of my woot purchases come in 1-2 days and there are some better deals (like brand name items) that you won't find on temu. If you're just looking for a "cheap bathroom scale" or "dog clothes", temu and ali make sense still

The reference price is ultimately fictitious. Why don't they either a) provide the current Amazon price, or b) provide a link to the Amazon product. That would be more in line with honesty.

I haven't seen a woot off in a long time, probably because I don't pay much attention anymore. Do they still do the bag of crap?

Sort of, but even the BOCs aren't worth it any more. I got one from them from a facebook post drop last year and it had a random romance novel, a couple boxes of staples, some coffee filters, and a paper bag with woot monkeys printed on it.
