It's metal, very light for its size, has a fantastic display, great keyboard (the num pad is a bit small, but I'm writing about the typing experience) and trackpad, adequate and very fast RAM (reports as 8533 MT/s), a Lunar Lake Ultra 7 that gives it incredible battery life for a Windows machine, ARC 140V integrated graphics that are easily powerful enough for typical photo and some video editing, and powerful enough to play the games I like to play at well over 60fps (eg. Insurgency: Sandstorm, Dirt Rally/Rally 2 and similar)...there is really very little not to like about this laptop.
A few things to note:
The AI light up logo on the trackpad is off by default, so for those complaining about it, you never have to actually see it light up if you don't want to.
It's got an extra slot for another SSD, which is always nice.
Acer does have a reputation for their not great speakers. They aren't redeeming themselves here, but you can tweak settings to have them sound MUCH better than they do out of the box.
Acer takes a lot of crap from online computer communities as a budget brand, but the truth is, they build very good laptops for their pricepoints. I have access to dozens of laptops (for reasons that don't matter), and the Acers I use are definitely not worse than others, and in fact, are much better than some other manufacturers I could name but will not.

Hinges on acer, apple last forever if you keep them open and open from the center. the hinge and ribbon cable wear out after daily use and corner opening.
My acer aspire 15in 2010, 2012, gateway 2021 hinges are still strong and runs. I just ordered 2025 acer aspire 14 in. last week. acer parts are cheap compare to apple m series. Pretty good quality for sub $400 for last 15 years.
My apple 2021 M1 air and M1 Max, hinges are fine for business use.
Dell latitudes 5000 and 7000 series, Thinkpad are much better business grade hinges

But 16GB, non-upgradable soldered ram is a deal breaker.
Most of the complaints are from people who have never owned an Acer or just copy paste what they read online, or just because they had one bad experience so they painted the whole brand with that brush.
The reality is that almost all laptop brands have their machines designed and made for them by a few ODMs (original design manufacturers), and brands typically use more than one ODM. Every brand name therefore has some variability - some lines are better than others within a brand, but overall, each brand that you've heard of is, on average, of about the same quality, and a particular laptop from one company may have more in common with another company's laptop (if they used the same ODM), than with other lines in the same company (if they used different ODMs).
Bottom line is there are very good and less good laptops from every brand, and ACER is no worse than others.
