Snarky answer: just like in life, theres many different price points for different segments with different features. Why should a sedan car cost 100k+ when 20k sedan do trick?
Non snarky answer: Phillips Hue is known for its lighting quality, ecosystem, and general stability (using a hub model and previously zigbee compared to other smart lights). Sure you can buy a regular RGB bulb with wifi, but if you want an entire house of lights (it adds up), wifi tends not to be reliable and Philips hue usually "just works". (I have 40+ Phillips hue products, but there are people with 100+)

Pretty solid price. Just remember these are taller than normal bulbs.

I switched from zigbee to hue and it was a big difference. The zigbee ones would just stop working and disconnect here and there. I don't think I've had an issue with the 6 hue lights in my house that I installed about a year ago. Yes they're stupid expensive for a light but being able to use them with Alexa and them actually working like they should makes it worth it to me

Edit: I meant Philips Wiz didn't work well. Not Zigbee

Can't say this enough. I tried all the budget options. Tried hard to avoid Philips. All failed repeatedly. All the apps suck.

Finally went Philips and have t had an issue since.

Just dumped hue after being an early adopter. Too many better options for less…

You had a chance to make this a helpful contribution to the thread by sharing what these better alternatives are, but you didn't. I've tried Hue and Govee myself, and Hue is much more reliable in my experience. I had to restart and reconnect the Govee bulbs more in 3 months than I did the Hue bulbs I had for 5 years prior to that. Also, the Hue colors are much more accurate and less washed out.

I don't get why the 100w bulbs are so much pricier than the 75w

Isn't MSRP on the 75W bulb $60?

I just bought a single one for $56 about a week ago. Needed two but best buy only had one in stock near me. Looks like I'll be doing a return tomorrow.

I have been happy with my Kasa light bulbs by TP-Link. I have their smart light switches too.
