I mean a plug in hot glue gun is like $5, has way faster and longer heat than any portable device. I would never buy a cheap off-brand device that touches my dewalt batts.

Dewalt's battery-saving-electronics are IN THE TOOL. Other brands may have their battery-saving-electronic cutoffs (low voltage cutoffs) in their batteries, but it depends on brands. Dewalt has tons of people buying chinese knockoffs and cheap "tools" which do not have low voltage cutoff in the tool, which wrecks the batteries. So your $20 tool ruins your $60 battery
Im not saying NEVER buy off-brand, but unless the off-brand tool literally brags about having "low voltage cutoff" in the tool itself, avoid at all costs, its not worth ruining your dewalt batteries (which cannot be recovered or ever used again).
You can buy the tool above, but you NEED to remove the battery after every single usage, and when using, check the battery level indicator every few minutes, and STOIP USING IT if the battery level goes from 2 down to 1 bar, but NOT use at 1 bar because you don't know where the bottom of that last bar ends.
Hopefully I save a few Dewalt owners from trashing their expensive batteries
Damn, they are cheaper than $4 even! https://www.walmart.com/ip/AdTech.../386843905
Under $5 for a high temp bigger one: https://www.walmart.com/ip/AdTech.../331124710

I always felt that a battery powered one should sit on a powered dock that keeps it at some threshold temp and then ramps it up as soon as you lift it off so that the internal battery won't be taxed so hard. I don't think anyone makes anything like that so I went with "Alene's Ultimate Glue Gun" which gives you 5 minutes of cordless use after you unplug:

Mine was $15 new from a thrift store but I'm sure they can be found for close to that normally. It comes with different nozzles, supports hi and lo-temp glue sticks, and comes in a molded case.
