The fanboys who had to get one already got one. This fanboy sales of 15-20 million sales was bound to happen no matter what. This was very evident in the 1st 3 month sales numbers. Earlier families that bought previous consoles were pushed out of buying power by the steep price increase. From 200/300 to 500 is steep. Games costing 80 n 90 is way too high when families are struggling to put food on the table. Others who value money are waiting for the price to drop considerably. These 50 or 100 cuts will not work unless it goes back to S1 release prices. Not everyone is going to pay 500 for outdated S2 specs to play just first party titles which are not many. For 3rd party titles they have ps5 n Xbox to run it better. Lack of exclusive titles n repeated rerelease of older titles are not helping with major sales. Not everyone has the time n money to spend on what they've already did.

Lack of chart bursting holiday sales for a newly released console is a big concern. Sales numbers falling heavily behind ps5 that was released 5 years ago gives the real picture. Nintendo's problems are only going to get worse with increasing memory prices, game key card debacle, greedy dlc pricing for unreleased games n share holders pressure for lacklustre showing. This is what happens when you replace people like Iwata who developed games as a passion with greedy money making business men. Nintendo really needs a reality check.

I think they will have to choose 1 of the 3 options..
1. Take a hit in profit by reducing the price to 300 or 350 to increase console sales and continue to make money on game releases. If console doesn't sell, then games don't sell. And reducing price should not be a concern for a billion dollar corporation like Nintendo
2. Wait it out a few years holding on to current prices even if the sales are low n see if the economy improves so many could buy the consoles again. Games sales will be poor as well with this option
3. Release exclusive Mario/Zelda titles that are a huge hit that boosts the console sales. This could take a few more years at the very least. Metroid n Pokemon releases seemed rushed n people have mixed feelings on these

Just my 2 cents.. you have every right to have your own opinion 👍

I've owned the PS2, 3, 4, and now 5. We added a SW2 to the SW1. I bought it to play with my kids bc they love Mario. I don't mind the lack of games bc I have a PS5 and a gaming PC. I guess we are blessed with 1st world problems so I don't understand what the issue is?
I cant play the game of the year this year on the switch, to go out the way to bash and say get this instead of a Playstation 5 is wild when the best selling games on the switch came out on the wii u and built for that wii u system. None of the questions on my original post have been answered. Yes the system is cheaper, but 10 year old games on the switch 2 cost more then ps5 games right? So if you buy 5 switch 2 games its more to play on the switch 2 making the switch 2 a more expensive console! And the games dont even look graphic better....but what's the problem? Smh 80 bucks for wii u graphic but what's the issue,

Crazy the deals on a new system.
Nintendo is having these deals because they're not selling as well this holiday season.

Not a bad deal if you didn't get in on the Sam's Club and Costco eShop card method around BF! Also a great way to bank BB Rewards points if you are so inclined (they have 40% off some giftcards using points ATM).

I'm still glad I didn't wait since I've been enjoying Mario Kart for nearly a month w/my kids!
Yea keep telling yourself that but while I love my switch 2 I wish I would have waited for just a little while longer.

Why longer? When else would you get a console 5 months old for 20% off as I did?!!!

I like this deal. Especially with Best Buy's 12 month 0% interest when using their credit card. If I liked Mario Kart, it would've been difficult not to upgrade.

Costco is offering an additional $50 off coupon? Costco app is showing $499.
Costco seems to have sent out an email around Dec 15th titled: "Our Gift to YOU: XXXXXXXXX at Checkout for $50 OFF $500+". Did every primary account holder receive this email? I have no idea, but it's worth checking. It's good through January 18th.

Is this the best deal on a switch 2 right now?
This and the current Costco deal are functionally the same. (There's a coupon that makes the costco deal even better, but let's ignore that for now.)

Both include mario kart world:
450 at Bestbuy
500 at Costco (Includes 1 year of nintendo online and expansion pack which is $50)

The smaller questions that pop up are:
-Are you a costco member?
-Are you going to retain a costco membership?
-Do you already have nintendo online and will redeeming the code end up being an issue/hassle?

The bigger question for someone like myself is, if I buy it through bestbuy, I'll only get the basic 12 month warranty included with the console, maybe 24 months if you include credit card extended warranty. However, if I buy through costco, my warranty is effectively unlimited as I can return the console 5, 10 years down the road for a full refund. Morally and Ethically, would I ever do something like that? It's contextual. If the switch sits there for like 3-4 years in docked mode, is never mishandled and just dies one day. Absolutely. If I use the switch daily in portable mode, carry it around, jostle it a lot, get some incidental bumps, drops etc, and it stops working after 3-4 years. Maybe, but I probably wouldn't. If I'm responsible for breaking it in any way, then I absolutely wouldn't return it.

Either way I still prefer the peace of mind knowing I can return it to costco at any point if any issues ever arise with it.

Does it come with a 4k disc drive? Can you watch movies with it? What are some new gen ground breaking graphics for it? Kirby? Not everyone is into colorful games meant for kids, nintendo is lucky theres more kids in the world than grown ups who play video games. Why not bring up the Xbox series s or x? Can I play battlefield 6 on the switch? How is it better? You saying switch 2 has better games than thr ps5?
No, you're right. It doesn't include a disc drive. Of course, 83% of all games are sold digitally now and physical movies are barely even sold anymore in any format, let alone 4k. But, if that's your thing, yes, you do get a physical drive on the PS5 Disc Edition. And, personally, yes, I think Nintendo makes better games than Playstation. I'm not a Kirby fan, but I do enjoy Mario and Zelda. The Metroid Prime franchise is one of my favorites. Even Pokemon, though it's the same old-same old, it's a nice diversion that throws back to when I was a kid.

My point wasn't that the Switch 2 is a better system, but it is better for the money considering the age of the consoles. Switch 2 is brand new, and portable hardware is never going to have the power of a system plugged into the wall, just like PlayStation will never be as strong as a gaming PC. But for a console to be more expensive five years after release is dumb. You mention Xbox; they're even worse. Of course, it seems like they're slowly leaving the console market and going the way of Sega as a game publisher instead, so I can understand why they don't care that they're literally 50% more expensive today than they were at launch.

The whole gaming industry got too big and their greed is showing. Sales for all systems are down to levels not seen since the 90's. Xbox consoles were outsold by a kid's Nex Playground machine during Black Friday. There will be a lot of reshaping in the industry these next couple years as they all have to start rethinking their strategies. I don't give any of them a pass except maybe the small indie developers like Team Cherry and Playdead who stay small and work hard to release good games for a fair price.

There have been games and they just dropped the new Metroid along with upgrades to older games that are free.

Worth it to upgrade switch 1? I never play on the go - only docked
approx 70% of all the switch owners I know play docked. It baffles me they won't release a device that omits the screen and battery. Such a device could likely cost about half the price to manufacture and significantly reduce ewaste.
