Really nice deals, lowest prices these have ever been AFAIK. And this is probably the last batch of M4 Pros available in retail before M5 models take over.

Unless you really need 120Hz display support via the Thunderbolt port, I'd recommend the M4. I realize there is more RAM (12GB vs. 8GB in M4), but I haven't seen any side-by-side comparisons that show any meaningful performance differences. iPadOS has always been great with RAM, there are iPads running iPadOS26 today that only have 3GB of RAM.

Especially if you need (or might need) 5G connectivity, the ~$400 savings over M5 is pretty substantial IMO. Save that $400 toward a new M7 iPad in a few years ha.

On the 256/512, it goes from 8GB on M4 to 12GB on M5.
for 1TB/2TB, both M4 and M5 have 16GB.

Base M5 has 12gb and 16 in the 1tb I think.

I have 11" iPad Pro 4th gen with M2. I use it for YouTube. Any reason I should upgrade?

Can't tell is this is a joke or not. I am still using iPad Air 4th gen (2020) with no issues browsing, media etc...

I upgraded from a 10.5 cellular to 11 M2 cellular. While it's enticing to have the better screen, I don't see any practical reason to upgrade when your device is still working. The only "upgrade" I am looking into is an OLED ipad mini if it comes, or rather get the M5 when they get to these prices.

The 2018 model? It will be an upgrade in most areas.. I'm surprised your battery is still holding up!

The bigger screen is bigger.

IMO, yes. The screen and speed would be worth it. With your battery aging this would likely get you back to 10ish hours of use

Just because that second part is true, doesn't mean those iPads run great on iOS 26 lol. Example: iPad Mini 5, which has 3GB of RAM and runs great on OS 18 but is absolutely butchered on OS 26.

I have both a 8th gen base iPad and 9th gen base iPad, both on iPadOS26. In my usage they did run poorly on iPadOS18, but '26 is totally different. Apple rearchitected iPadOS from the ground up this time, and it runs just fine on 3GB for any normal usage. I'm not recommending 4K video editing, but they do fine for any regular use.
If you're still having trouble on iPad0S26 with your Mini 5, consider wiping it and setting it up as 'new'.
