So they build WiFi into their products and restrict your ability to use it outside of their ecosystem, ok, maybe you could make an argument re: "Security" and not having your door hacked over the network. But I think they don't really care about that, and more care about locking into their ecosystem so they can make money off of recurring services.
Fast forward to recently, now they're restricting your ability to physically hook into your garage door opener to control it how you wish.
"Just buy a different opener then." Ok, how about a LiftMaster? Chamerblain. Craftsman? Chamberlain. Genie is about your only option that is not (currently) completely hostile to you operating equipment you own in the way that you wish.
But people will keep buying this stuff because it goes on "sale" for 67% when realistically they've specced this thing down to the point where that's probably still profitable for them and they're roping people into recurring revenue streams. Just another brick laid on the path to "You'll own nothing, and you'll like it".

But I dunno what they are referring to specifically.
Now with their new Security 3.0 platform it will even block things like the Ratgdo from working all together from my understanding.
