And for the question not asked. These bootloaders are locked, you will not be putting any ROMs on them. Motorola will not give you the bootloader unlock code. Not to be confused with the NETWORK unlock after 60 days of service.

If you want to buy the phone and have it unlocked, simply purchase the phone, call Straight Talk, tell them you want the phone re-branded to tracfone, which they can do, and then buy a Tracfone $19.99 plan from Walgreens to have the phone unlocked after 60 days. The plan below is 90 days and is $19.99.

60 days of paid service. You'd rather get the moto stylus for free after paying for 2 months of service which would be $90.

I still have two of their Moto G phones ($39.88 each) from last year that are still locked to Straight Talk. I learned the hard way that the $39.88 that I paid for each was for the phone, and i was required to purchase their plan for at least two months before the phone can be unlocked. The cheapest plan is $45 per month (i.e $39.88 + $90= $129.88 for one phone). Please think twice before going this route.

You could pay the initial $45 and then a $20 card(90 day plan) from TracFone to have it unlocked. Cheaper but takes a little bit more time as you will need to start a whole new 60 days on TracFone.

The easiest and cheapest way to unlock a Straight Talk device (without switching to TracFone) is to either go with the cheapest plan on the Straight Talk website (bronze, iirc) or the $25 Straight Talk plan from Walmart.com and have it sent to the phone number on your Straight Talk account.

Note that while Straight Talk does have a 60-day unlock requirement, you just have to have 60 days total of active service, not necessarily continuous service.

The bronze plan directly from straight talk is $35 a month or $34 a month with autopay. Walmart also sells a $25 Straight Talk plan. Note that the fine print on this plan says that it cannot be added to a device that has been activated in the last year (so no guarantee it would work on your phone if it hasn't been a full year yet), but multiple SDers report using it for the second month of a 60 day unlock on recently activated phones to get a successful unlock.

How does this work? During the first 30 days while the phone is with straight talk do you do something to move it to Tracfone with the $20 plan? In other words a number port?

I very much agree. And because you only have to buy the silver plan the first month, the total actually comes out under $90.

The Moto G Stylus 2025 is free directly from Straight Talk with one month of paid service on the silver plan, which means you only have to pay for one additional month's service to get it unlocked. And it has better specs (more RAM, 128GB of storage, which means over double the available storage, etc.). Check the SD thread for tons of info. The stylus deal has been going on for a while. I got in on it about a month ago and it's a really nice phone. The extra ram makes a huge difference vs only 4 GB on the Moto G.

this is great for someone who needs a cheap emulator, music player. it has SD slot, head phone jack and has built in FM radio. Android 16 has been released for this phone, this has 4GB ram.
you can get the free apps to get a phone number as well, it will be on WiFi. will call allow you to call 911 directly in case of emergency.

The moto stylus version is free with $45 silver plan from straight talks website. This phone has the 6th gen qualcolm processor, 120hz oled screen, and more ram. I bought one to turn into a switch like device loaded with emulators and a 8bitdo Ultimite phone controller holder that was featured previously on slickdeals.

This is a good way to go about it. I've done this a few times with success.
