I learned the other day some Tapo models can replace their firmware with Thingino which is open source and has more features

not sure how to do it yet but interesting https://thingino.com/

The battery life has been surprisingly awesome on the one I put up this fall. First charge after about 2 months of use. Grabbed a pair of these to put up elsewhere given the great experience.
My only drawback has been that I can't get these to pull up through my Google home screens.
2 months of use for a product advertised for 180 days is quite bad. If it is facing a busy street, good luck the battery lasts even a week

Yeah good point. I looked back and it was actually just over 3 months on that charge. I didn't even consider how long it's supposed to last.

Having to charge 3/4 times a year is fine for my use case and not having to run wires. I have the solar charger and didn't even bother setting it up given its charge length. I know I have it set for high quality and monitoring events, the alerts hit my phone impressively fast. Faster than my wired nest cams I have in various places !

One downside of this camera is that someone can easily snatch it because it's just a magnet that's attaching it to its base.
oh, that's a big downside. thanks for the heads up.

Product has reached "End of life status". Battery isn't easily user replaceable. I wasn't able to find any video or guild. It might even be custom battery shape design like my wyze battery door camera.
Except wyze paywalls literally every feature. These include AI detection and are built a lot better than the battery cam lro

Don't listen to him. These are not magnetically mounted. Any camera can be stolen, anyway. Hence, use a hub to store videos.

I didn't say you should buy Wyze. I'm talking about the possible battery issue that lead to e-waste.

Best Buy has been clearancing some Tapo cams that appear to be Best Buy-specific versions of other Tapo cams. Probably has some relation to them being EOL. The equivalent Tapo cam models aren't EOL.

I ordered 2x of these, and only received a single pack. Anyone have experience dealing with Best Buy customer service on eBay?

I was lucky to get the deal from Best Buy. The camera is very good. I tried to buy solar panels for them. It is not easy to find a compatible solar panel. I ordered Ankway 5w Solar Panel from Amazon. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with the camera. It doesn't charge the camera at all. If anyone found a compatible solar panel, please let me know. Any input is highly appreciated.
