When was the PS5 version that price? It was for the PS4

God of War Ragnarok is landing around the same twenty dollar mark as past promos, with the PS4 digital version at $10 and a $10 PS5 upgrade making the full PS5 path effectively $20. The game itself gets strong praise for being very good, and Valhalla mode is called especially fun. The main caveat is pricing confusion, since the listed deal appears to apply to PS4 rather than PS5, and the upgrade has been called not worth it by some. A solid pick if you want the PS5 version and are fine paying the upgrade.

The PS5 version can effectively cost about $20 either way when the $10 upgrade is applied.

The PS4 digital version can cost $10 on the PlayStation Store, and the PS4-to-PS5 upgrade adds another $10.
stevethelurker
The PS4-to-PS5 upgrade may mainly change load times while offering a free level download.

Valhalla mode can be fun for players who enjoy extra content.

The $19.95 price may apply to the PS4 version rather than the PS5 version.
gilseed 1597
The PS5 upgrade can be considered not worth it after wasting $10 and regretting the purchase.
jasongw
The sequel can be criticized for missed opportunities and missed payoffs.
Flawless700
A lack of FOV adjustment on PS5 can limit comfort for some players.

Common Questions (4)

The $19.95 price is for the PS4 version; the PS5 upgrade costs another $10. That puts the PS5 version at about $20 total either way, so the deal mainly matters if you want the PS5 edition without paying more elsewhere.
gilseed nystate kylefifa nystate
Yes, it has reportedly been $10 for the PS4 version before, and $20 has been the lowest price mentioned for the game overall. It was also $20 at Best Buy on Black Friday.
Spaceman6969 CoolBuffalo9750 ruffruder stevethelurker
The PS4-to-PS5 upgrade costs $10 additional. With the PS4 digital version at $10, the PS5 version ends up around $20 total.
nystate kylefifa stevethelurker
The upgrade adds PS5 access, but one reported downside is that it may not feel worth the extra $10 if you already have the PS4 version. The PS4 version's main drawback mentioned is slower load times, while the PS5 version is the one people want for native PS5 play.

Yup. Sure, it's a $10 upgrade to PS5, but some just want it for PS5.

Edit: I have been informed that the upgrade is $10 thanks to kylefifa. So, it will be $20 either way for the PS5 version.

It was $10 before here and there and gonna happen again. This is not being discontinued lol. Patience is a virtue

This has never been $10. $20 is the lowest it has been. Like others stated that was the PS4 version that was $10.

I didn't think they did so well with this sequel. So many missed opportunities, missed payoffs.

Nothing grinds my gears than a peasantry time machine comment on a deal site.
