Real OG Monopoly (when following the written rules) doesn't last hours. You aren't supposed to have a choice to buy things, the entire point was to force a player to buy the property or the property must go up for auction....someone has to buy it. The way you and I (and most other Americans) grew up playing the game was entirely against the original intent and as a result games could last sometimes several playing sessions.

I've always played it like that, property gets auctioned off if person landing on it doesn't want to pay full price. Despite playing it like this, the games always last way too long because people will mortgage off everything to stay in the game.

I hope the game duration is really 15 minutes, the hours it takes the OG game keeps me away from it

I used to have a weird friend who was really good at it and he insisted on playing until he won every time. It just wasn't fun.

It's a slow accumulation of assets, followed by a slow loss of assets, with random house rule that can inject a ton of cash to those that are eventually going to lose and just prolong the process.

Exactly. I prefer Monopoly Deal. One of my favorite card games.

It's actually based off of a mobile game. It even gives you a code for a free token in the game. We got into the game last year so I bought the board game for Christmas. It was fun. But I think we only played it once. Nothing against the game. We just don't have a lot of time playing games and my son likes buying them, so we seem to just keep playing new games whenever we have time.
