This game stands strong on its own, and many of the "shrine" puzzles here are better than BotW, and way better than TotK.
The story isn't necessarily bad, but the voice acting and script make it so incredibly annoying and I couldn't be bothered to pay attention to the cutscenes.

Personally, I didn't mind the dialog. They tried something new. Jokes don't always land but you do get a chuckle out of a few. Humor is hard to pull off consistently over such a long game. So I'm willing to give them some slack.
My personal opinion of why this game failed is that it's really a puzzle game wrapped up in the wrapper of an adventure. And that gave people whiplash cause that's not what was expected from the trailer and marketing. The combat becomes trivial very soon. You become overpowered so fast that for the bulk of the game it's just a side chore. The thing that caught everyone by surprise the number of puzzles. My god they just crammed it with them. You take just a couple of steps in any direction and you'll encounter a puzzle. And there are puzzles within puzzles within puzzles. Some of them are quite enjoyable. And I have to say some are well designed. But the overwhelming majority of them are trivial. And it just turns into a chore. This game has the makings of a great game. Just that you get the feeling if they had taken a few different decisions and marketed it appropriately it would have done very well.
I played it on a borrowed a while back, with a passing familiarity with Greek mythology. I've since read through the Percy Jackson series with my son, and am going to be buying this and playing it again. It will be interesting now that I have a lot more experience with the myths. I liked the game a lot on PS4. Hoping the Switch version plays smoothly.
I was disappointed, because you can tell they poured a lot of work into the game.

Despite the protesters, it really is a BotW clone. But with added voice acting (at times NSFW but I always found it funny) and highly simplified attacking and crafting...but that's actually a good thing. Of the many BotW clones out there, this one manages to stand on its own because it brings new stuff to the table.
The puzzles do get repetitive, and several are 100% repeats but just 2x as many things to do, but again, it fits for the game.
At $4? Absolutely a recommended buy.
FYI - as an Ubisoft game, it will advertise the ingame store CONSTANTLY. Annoyingly. But you can completely finish the game without interacting with it at all, if you like. Nothing is needed.
