Just curious, can I connect this from my I phone 15 pro to Ethernet and test speed off the modem at my house ? lol . I have been running in trouble trying to test my speed out of the main modem since most of my laptop don't support Ethernet anymore. I know this can be use on laptop with type c but can this be use on I phone ?

I have done this. I set up my power cable at my nightstand to have Ethernet because I wanted fast remote play on my steamdeck and I was surprised to see my iPhone switch to Ethernet when I charged it. First thing I did was run a speed test.

Any idea what chipset is in this adapter?

I was in a quest for usb-c to Ethernet adapters for iPhone and iPad and tried a whole bunch. Tested them for power usage while working and idle. I found that the Realtek chipsets were mediocre and non-Realtek were terrible. The higher speeds dongle you get, the newer the chipsets are and are mostly Realtek and are very power hungry.

This translated to 2 things. 1) if you're wired at home and want to use an iPad on Ethernet, the battery life will be terrible and even when you're not using it and the dongle is plugged in, sleep will eat lots of battery and 2) if you use it to charge an iPhone and back up at night since it eats the battery, it will be constantly draining and charging and kill your battery health quickly.

I found that the charge/ethernet dongles were the worst also.

The best of all the dongles with the lowest usage power and goes to pretty much zero when the iPad/iPhone is sleeping is the AX88179 chipset which is OLD (2013). Ugreen makes dongles with this chipset still that are reasonably priced.
