11 different (factory reconditioned / refurbished) models available… CyberPower your Office [woot.com]

The similar 1500 VA (simulated sine wave) model CP1500AVRLCD3 / CP1500AVRLCD3-R [woot.com] is $10 more - $139.99.

The 1500 VA (pure sine wave) CP1500PFCLCD / [woot.com]CP1500PFCLCD-R [woot.com] is $179.99 but the recently expired B&H offer was better deal at $189 for brand new.

Note: The listings state: "The batteries have been replaced by the manufacturer as part of the re-conditioning process."

Refurb deals like this make sense for non-critical setups. I wouldn't rely on refurbished batteries for anything mission-critical.

What's the best way to test the battery of a unit? I have two larger ones and two smaller that I'm not sure how the battery conditions are anymore tbh.

Easiest way is to fully load up with stuff all turned on and then unplug it from the wall.

That's what I figured. My power went out the other day and my NAS shut off a couple minutes later well before it should have so I think the battery in that unit is going bad.

I bought my two most recent CyberPower battery backups from Costco. They sell the 1500VA / 900W for $150, with free shipping. Usually have them in stock at warehouses, too. Model CST150UC2-E.

Newbie question, how many hours it will support a router/modem in case of power outage?

Personally, I wouldn't go for these. They use SLA batteries that need to be replaced after 3-5 years. These days you can pay a little more and get a more versatile power station with a LiFePO4 battery (lasting more than 10 years,) larger capacity, and which outputs a true sine wave. Just make sure it has fast enough transfer switching to work as a UPS (<20ms).

I have the older version of this and i will last about 2.5-3 hours for powering a modem and router. I've had a few batteries drained badly due to a extended power outage, thanks PG&E, so I've seen it last until the battery unit had to turn off to prevent damaging the batteries. SLA batteries do not do well when drained fully and why they're cheaper than LiFePO4. However, they do the job for minor outages.

Yeah, I'd argue Costco is the route to go if you have a membership because if you do have any issues, you can simply return it. I had one faulty unit that died shortly after a year of use, and got it replaced at Costco. The replacement is still going 2 years strong, but will likely need new batteries in a year or two.

Yup I had to buy a new one from Costco after my previous one from Costco died. Had it for about 5-6 years. Doesn't seem to hold a charge that well anymore so now it's just a glorified surge protector.

I wouldn't trust the battery been replaced.
