Before anyone drops a "ew fossil" comment, let me just say this is a lot of watch for the money. Skeletonized movement, Japanese movement, and exposition caseback.

However it's a big boy, 13mm thicc and 45mm dial face is going to go on some big wrists. At this price, it would make an excellent stocking stuffer for someone looking for their first automatic watch, or heck, their second or third if they're into em.

Edit: another user has pointed out that this is likely not a Japanese movement but rather a "clone" of a Japanese movement made in china

Is there something wrong with fossil watches? I have worn them for 3 decades.

Starting to mess around with watches, so I figure as I'm dipping my toes in, cheaper is likely better before I decide what I really love and what I don't much care for.
In for one. Cheers.

I think he was actually saying that there isn't anything wrong with Fossil watches, but was acknowledging that many enthusiasts dismiss Fossil as not a "serious" or desirable watch brand. I am in agreement with both of you, as I am with Sensai who posted that he's just getting started in his watch collecting journey. If a particular watch gives you joy then it's a good buy regardless of what others think.

I am not collecting watches. I am glad there is no flaw and these watches are fine

Where did you see that it has a Japanese movement? I usually see low quality Chinese movements in these skeletonized movements.

There's nothing "wrong" with them, they are just kind of looked down on by watch aficionados, along with other fashion watch brands like DW, AX, Nixon, etc. They work fine, but generally they are over-styled, with cheap (but functional) Chinese quartz movements. Again, nothing necessarily wrong, but also nothing about them to justify their prices when you can usually get a great classic Seiko, Orient, or Citizen automatic for similar money.

Not a Japanese movement. They use "miyota-like" and "swiss mfg technology" to pretend these aren't Chinese movements.

If it was a non Chinese movement you would be able to find information about it somewhere and it's nowhere on the Internet, I did some digging.

Yea, that's what I thought. These are notoriously inaccurate and unreliable - that's why I don't buy the skeletonized movements.

Relic was the cheap version of Fossil in the 90s. Like Armitron.

But as has been pointed out, this is not even a Fossil watch: it's a RELIC, a cheaper Fossil Group sub-brand. It says RELIC on the front, not Fossil.
