These tend to stop working after just a few months. BUT... at only $5 it could be worth buying a few anyway.

I don't think that's worth it because you'll just end up with a pile of dead units.

Or... you just throw it away once it dies? I've had my current one plugged in since the beginning of the year, and it's somehow still going strong. So YMMV.
