Note that this is only 1/2" diameter while standard hoses are 5/8, so this will limit water flow to some degree.

Most complete package hose reels (especially ones with permanently attached hoses) are 1/2" anyway. They do that to fit more hose on the reel, and since this is designed to work with those it makes sense.

Thank you for this, would not have caught that. It may be insignificant to some, but that 1/8" of flow restriction over it's life will end up costing a lot of time.

Where are these clearance hoses kept in the store? I couldn't find any in two home depot stores.

I have never heard of a permanently attached hose. I have owned several reels, all of which came empty and added the hose. A permanently attached hose sounds like a bad idea, because what do you do when the hose fails?

Never said they were a good product, but look at the enclosed self retracting units. They are usually attached 1/2" hoses.
