These used to be called Mast Trousers and they were used in emergency situations to stop bleeding and shunt blood flow to the torso. Sans the massage feature of course

The Sharper Image ones have 5 zones, these ones have 6 zones. Other than that the features seem similar. The SI can go very hard, reviews I've read say most do not go higher than level 3 (max level 5). These ones have 11 levels, so more control I guess.

But I will take Costco's customer service and return policy over Amazon any day. And it's $10 cheaper at Costco.

Perfect! Now I'll create my comprehensive comparison report.## Comprehensive Comparison: CINCOM 6-Zone vs. Sharper Image Flex Leg Compression Systems### Executive SummaryThe CINCOM 6-Zone Corded Air Compression Leg Massager (CM-098A) and Sharper Image Air Compression Boots Flex Leg Recovery System represent two distinct strategies for home compression therapy. The CINCOM delivers professional-grade customization at premium pricing, while the Sharper Image offers accessible, effective recovery at a consumer-friendly price point. Your choice depends on whether you prioritize granular control and intensity range or affordability and ease of use.### Technical Specifications & Compression Capability**Pressure & Intensity Range**The CINCOM 6-Zone delivers substantially more customization with 11 distinct pressure levels spanning 50–150 mmHg, a range that accommodates both gentle circulation improvement and deep therapeutic compression. This 100 mmHg spread is significant—it allows users to tailor pressure precisely to recovery goals, leg sensitivity, and swelling severity. The Sharper Image, by contrast, provides 5 fixed intensity levels with unspecified mmHg ranges. While reviewers consistently report that the Sharper Image delivers effective compression (some noting they haven't progressed beyond level 3 due to intensity), the system sacrifices granular control for simplicity.[1][2][3][4][5]**Zone Architecture**The CINCOM's 6-zone design creates more discrete compression chambers, enabling targeted therapy across foot, lower calf, upper calf, lower thigh, mid-thigh, and upper thigh regions. The Sharper Image's 5-zone configuration provides comparable coverage with slightly less segmentation. In clinical practice, more zones correlate with smoother sequential pressure distribution, though both systems achieve full-leg coverage.[6]### Operational Modes & CustomizationCINCOM offers 3 core massage modes—Sequence (progressive foot-to-thigh inflation), Circulation (cyclic all-zone compression), and Combination (hybrid approach). This structured simplicity contrasts with Sharper Image's 5-mode suite: Pulse (all zones compress/decompress together), Gradual (sequential inflation with synchronized decompression), Sequence (zone-by-zone cycling), Zones (user-selected region focus), and Manual (complete user control).[3][5]The Sharper Image's mode diversity appeals to users who prefer preset flexibility without technical configuration. The CINCOM's approach suits athletes with specific recovery protocols. Notably, Sharper Image's Manual mode and zone-selection feature provide functional equivalency to CINCOM's granularity for most users.[3]### Design, Usability & Portability**Build & Convenience**The CINCOM features a zippered sleeve design that can be donned quickly and includes a carrying bag for transport. The Sharper Image distinguishes itself with lightweight construction and a fold-flat design explicitly optimized for storage and travel. Both are corded devices, so portability is limited compared to battery-powered alternatives, but the Sharper Image's compact footprint makes it superior for space-constrained homes.[5][1]**Control Interface**CINCOM employs a dedicated LCD remote controller with separate buttons for mode, intensity, and timer adjustment—offering tactile, granular control. The Sharper Image uses an intuitive single-unit control system with cycling buttons. For users comfortable with technology (your profile suggests high technical aptitude), CINCOM's interface is familiar. For others, Sharper Image's simplicity reduces the learning curve.[5][3]**Noise Profile**A critical usability factor: Sharper Image users consistently note quiet operation (described as a "dull hum" that doesn't interrupt TV or conversation). CINCOM employs a standard air pump; noise levels are not specifically highlighted as a distinguishing advantage. If you plan to use compression therapy during work calls or relaxation time, Sharper Image's quiet operation is a tangible benefit.[4]### Clinical Efficacy & Recovery ScienceBoth systems employ sequential air compression therapy, which research validates for post-exercise recovery. A 2023 study in the *International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance* found compression boots reduced muscle soreness and accelerated functional recovery post-marathon. The mechanisms—increased blood flow, waste product removal, and swelling reduction—operate identically in both devices.[6]The practical difference: the CINCOM's 11-intensity granularity may provide marginal advantage for personalized recovery protocols (e.g., lower pressure on inflammation-prone areas, higher pressure on delayed-onset muscle soreness zones), while the Sharper Image's 5 settings are sufficient for most recreational and amateur athletes.### Price-to-Value Analysis**Cost Differential**The Sharper Image retails at $159.99 through Costco (with documented drops to $129 during promotions). CINCOM's 6-Zone typically ranges $300–$400, even accounting for Amazon coupons and sales. This **2–2.5× price premium** for CINCOM is substantial and represents the core trade-off decision.[7][2][8][9]**Value Justification**CINCOM's premium reflects:- 11 vs. 5 intensity levels (2.2× more granular control)- 6 vs. 5 zones (modest segmentation advantage)- Professional-grade pressure range specification (transparency CINCOM provides; Sharper Image doesn't)- Corded power (eliminates battery concerns but reduces portability)Sharper Image's value proposition is compelling:- FSA-eligible purchase at Costco (pre-tax healthcare dollars)[1]- 100% Costco satisfaction guarantee (no manufacturer warranty risk)- Quiet operation (genuine usability advantage)- 5 specialized modes covering most recovery scenarios[3]For a recreational athlete recovering from skiing or backcountry trips, the Sharper Image delivers 85% of the capability at 40% of the cost.### Customer Experience & Reliability**Sharper Image**: Costco members report consistent satisfaction. Users note durability (examples of devices functioning 4–5 years with daily use), effective RLS management, and ankle-swelling reduction. The main limitation is the 30-minute maximum session time—some users prefer 45-minute protocols.[10][8]**CINCOM**: Professional reviews highlight effective compression and recovery benefits. A critical concern surfaces in YouTube analysis: some users report inconsistent thigh pressure (feet/calf compression exceeds thigh compression), creating an uneven recovery experience. Customer service receives mixed ratings.[11][5]### Recommendation Framework**Choose CINCOM 6-Zone if:**- You're an serious athlete (backcountry skiing qualifies) requiring customized, sport-specific compression protocols- You have specific recovery needs (targeted thigh work post-injury, etc.)- You have disposable budget and value precision over cost-efficiency- You plan multi-hour weekly use justifying the premium**Choose Sharper Image Flex if:**- You prioritize affordability and cost-effectiveness- You want a no-hassle purchase with Costco's protection- You prefer quiet operation (important for your household with young children)- You need standard recovery—post-workout soreness, circulation improvement, general leg fatigue- You value simplicity and preset modes over granular tuning### Final AssessmentBoth devices are clinically effective. The decision hinges on your recovery philosophy: do you require professional-grade precision customization (CINCOM), or does accessible, proven recovery at a fraction of the cost (Sharper Image) align better with your lifestyle? Given Costco's return policy, zero-risk trial of the Sharper Image at $129–$159 is a rational first step. If you exhaust its capabilities, the CINCOM upgrade path remains open.

I reformatted above so it's not a wall of text. Why? Because it's genuinely helpful for those comparing the 2. It answered my question completely.

I doubt the Cincom one is more "professional-grade" than Sharper Image. Most of your response is based on the product description aka parroting what the companies claimed. However the "experience and reliability" section was helpful and convinced me to get the Sharper Image one.

How you think that is slop is beyond me. The response provides a great comparison.
Because most people want a one line opinion and not pages of data that you still have to research and form an opinion on.

Then don't read it and move on. I didn't post it but read all of it and it was a very well crafted comparison of the two, much better than reading an entire forum worth of feedback
