Not worth it if you have a Switch 2. It's pretty muddy and low framerate. I wouldn't count on Atlus making an upgrade path for it either.

I'm playing this right now on Switch. I've never played it on any other platform so I don't have a frame of reference, but it runs fine to me and is really fun so far. One thing I do notice is that I feel like the screen is too "small" to see the environment around me, so rotating the camera is kind of awkward; not sure if that is just on the Switch or that's just how the game is.

I would jump on this if I hadn't already owned it on PS4 and PS5. Unfortunate that PS5 does not use trophies from PS4 edition but playing it on the switch would've made grinding so much more flexible.

All in all, get the game. $25 is a great price for all this content.

This is the worst way to play this game. All multi-platform games are the worst on Switch. You get low res and 30fps. Also, for you those of you who aren't familiar with Atlus games, there is no free Switch 2 upgrade for this, nor will there ever be. If they even bother with a Switch 2 version at all, you'll have to buy it again. Atlus does not do free upgrades.

Lol yeah playing it on the train is way worse than not being able to play it there at all.

I played my first playthrough of this on switch (first Atlus game and playthrough altogether). Totally hooked me and played fine in handheld mode at 30fps. But it looks like crap on switch 2 and I've abandoned ship on my second playthrough for Xbox/PC and it's just so much nicer.

Where''fine'is a bit fuzzy, since it keeps the graphics settings the same on a larger screen. It's unfortunate that it doesn't adapt its resolution/framerate.

There is one pretty significant change, though: Load times are improved, which is great for all the fast travel and afternoon/evening transitions you do in the game. A few seconds at a time really adds up.

if you can, I'd play it on the Steam Deck, where it's sharper with better FPS. If not, Switch/Switch 2 is a serviceable way to play one of the best JRPGs out there.

Yeah you are downvoted but it's the truth. If you have another console or PC it's 100% worth it to skip playing on the go for the better graphical settings, especially since SW2 does not have an upgrade for this. This is a 120 hour game, not a 20-hour game, it's worth it to play it in FHD and above 30fps just to better appreciate the game as a whole for the entirety of the run. It has also been cheaper on other platforms too...

Everybody complaining about the graphics on NSW, but honestly, outside of the menus, P5's graphics weren't really that great to begin with.

I'm going to add to the "don't play this on switch" comments. It looks bad. One commenter mentioned p5 doesn't look great to begin with, which is true-ish in the sense that there are no high res high texture models, but the game has a gorgeous art style, which is severely hindered in this version. I played the original non Royal edition on ps4, and didn't think the switch version could be that much worse and bought it anyways because I thought the portability would be enough to make it passable. It wasn't, and I haven't touched that version since. If portability is a must for you, play it on a Steam deck or one of the other popular pc handheld systems, if you don't have one, you might consider it for this game, it's a really good game whose art style is too gorgeous to be ruined by this mediocre port and is very long (100+ hours) so you'll get your moneys worth. I honestly feel the switch version should have looked better than it did even for the hardware it has but that they didn't bother to optimize or do much work to make it look as good as the switch version should be capable of, it just feels like a lazy port.

Maybe I can expand my thoughts on the Switch performance a little. I'm about 30 hours in and other than the camera being kind of "close" like I mentioned earlier, I think the game runs really well. Load times are very short and the 2D graphics are really clear and appealing. I feel like the 3D graphics are kind of "simple" and cartoony by design (that and it's an older game anyway) that to me don't look that different from PS5 on YouTube comparison videos anyway. The main drawbacks that I'm reading are the resolution and frame rate, which for me at 30 fps is totally fine for a non-action game. This game is basically like playing an interactive manga/anime, with some running around and fighting in between. There is a ton of dialogue, and I spend probably 80% of the time looking at the animated avatars (which look great) and reading the text. So I feel pretty happy with the performance on Switch.
