Works until it doesn't, at which point you have a 55 inch TV crashing down on your toddler. Learn how to find studs and use them.

It's not difficult to find studs: use a magnetic bar, use a studfinder, or find a closeby wall outlet and measure x16" On Center (usually) from it to where you want to hang. You'll get better results.
I'm not sure if these devices are seismically rated.

A correct way to mount everythind on the wall is to use a a panel board (usually shelving of coordinated color). Find the studs in your preferred location and mount the board with spacers (pop bottle caps). This will set your free providing a robust mounting. Now anywhere on this board use heavy duty screws for tv arm etc. not worried about hitting the stud and leaving the wall without ugly pegs.

I used one of these to mount a 42" OLED in my office without any worries, but I wouldn't trust a 55"+ longterm.

TV are getting much lighter but I wouldn't trust this with anything much bigger then 40 inches and no kids around.

Anyone who is going off the size and not the weight, is just being an idiot. People, check your TVs weight in the specs, it's pretty simple.

Worked fine with my new 83'' oled. Just check the tv weight. Also, I have really strong drywall and 3 layers of paint for extra strength, darker colors are typically stronger upon drying.

Though I've never used this particular brand, I've been using these for 10 years without issue. Ideal for apartments/rental properties. It's just my personal experience, but I've probably mounted 15 TVs with these type of devices for myself, family members and friends. But yes, check your TV's weights and the device specs. Some of these mounts are more robust and well built than others..

Specifically I understand multiple layers of lead-based paint provide structural integrity to drywall. Think about it, no one ever complained about their TV falling off a wall in the 1970s.

Agree with others. Don't chance it. Also this seems to be the regular price. Even cheaper is available (but I'm not recommending it)
