I'm genuinely curious, if you're buying one, is it for next year?

Honestly, not exclusively. My household likes xmas ambience, so the tree-lit nights continue at least through January. Then there's arbor day, xmas in July, etc., etc... ;-)

Something to be aware about Home Depot's brand (Home Accents) of trees: they are notorious for going dim in the middle. This reddit thread shows the issue. You can find other threads about it, as well as many reviews for various sizes/styles.

https://www.reddit.com/r/led/comm...rightness/

Second year ours went up this happened. It wasn't too bad, and we only noticed after it was decorated. This year (third time it was set up), it was super obvious. Home Accents offered $50 as the "pro-rated" amount, despite the fact that the tree was $250.

$50 is about all these are worth, IMO. Even Home Accents agrees.

My order just got canceled for being out of stock even though they showed 7 in stock when I ordered. I seem to have nothing but bad luck with Home Depot nowadays. This is the third time in a row they've either delivered the wrong items or canceled my order.

Anyone know of a good hypoallergenic, non-toxic Christmas tree?

Same here. I bought the 9 ft home accent tree this year for $88 at HD to replace my 7.5 ft home accent tree I bought in 2021 for $261 because of the light dimming issue. I was about to trash the 7.5 ft tree but if i can fix it by what reddit described as a possible solution, i prefer that.

Mine was down the same exact thing, there are little connectors throughout the middle of the tree connecting the multiple strands, I re-seated the connectors and wiggled them to make sure the connection was tight, took only a few minutes and the whole tree is lit evenly now.

I resolved my "dim section" issue the same way. Unplugged and reconnected the plugs, put back together and everything now works. Thanks!

Same here. There are a LOT of small, green box-shaped connectors, most of which are somewhat close to the "trunk". I separated the pieces by CAREFULLY pushing an Exacto knife blade against the piece that comes out of the small box. I then gently bent the wires away from the side oof the loose connector half and reinserted. This caused most of the lights to get brighter. I suspect that I didn't find the connectors for the remaining dim lights, but I'll look again tomorrow during daylight hours. I may also search for different connectors that create a more permanent positive connection.

Ah, thanks for sharing the reddit comments. I got the $50 from Home Accents and they didn't make me do anything with the tree and I still have it, so I'll give it a shot. No idea how many of those connectors there are, but I wonder if I could epoxy or glue them if it fixes the dimming, so that they won't shimmy loose again.
